Notre Dame Joining ACC

For all sports except football.

Notre Dame will remain independent in football, but will be required to play 5 games against ACC opponents.

Wow.

ACC also voted to raise exit fees to $50 million, so I doubt FSU or Clemson will be leaving as many have speculated.

That almost sucks, in a way... Scoring ND football would have been huge...

Here's betting that it happens eventually...

From what I've read ND football is under contract with NBC until 2015 but after that I would bet football moves over too. Also they will play 5 ACC schools each year in football. Great get by Swofford, hopefully Uconn, Georgetown, or St. Johns is next to follow.

Agreed. Even though ND football isn't close to what it used to be it has a huge following which =$$

50 mil to leave that's huge. I know there was talk of Clemson, VTech, and FSU going to the SEC.

Unless ND fully joins, there won't be need for further expansion.

The ACC is balanced in football at 14 teams with this arrangement.

Short of two more universities coming along that justify a big increase in TV revenue, the ACC is set for the foreseeable future.

Lateral move. The Big East had nine teams make the tourney two years ago, and number eight won the title.
