There is a place for tricky run options, but they can't be your base running set, when they are not working.
Relatively minor nitpick though, since they were much less cute with the playcalling today.

I don't hate Rivera, but I do think that he needs to get into Chud's ear about running the overcomplicated run options when it isn't needed. Our backs, especially Deangelo, are being put into some rough situations because of how "cute" he's trying to get with a lot of the play calls.

This entire paragraph makes no sense, since our base running today WAS the read option and we were FAR MORE "cute" than we were even last week.

I saw Rivera override McDermott on a play call, which was great to see. I finally felt like he was actually coaching on the sideline.
Yeah, that was good to see....he saw something and called a timeout I believe and pointed it out that the D wasn't set up right for it.
But Rivera should of NEVER let Chud get cute on that 4th down near the goal. unneeded.

I'll be more impressed with him when he outduels a guy like Coughlin, not whoever the Saints** 3rd string coach is.
