Growl

Steve Sabol Dead at 69.

Recommended Posts

All my life I have loved NFL Films. Every part of it. I love this game so much an NFL Films was such a huge part of it. It always truly captured how extraordinary our game is, and put such a deep respect for this sport inside of me because of it. Because of that, I always had a gret respect for Steve, the man who understood the greatness of this sport and and showed it so well. I hate to lose Steve. I really, truly, looked up to him and it's a sad day for the entire sport.

Regardless of what team your a fan of, none of our allegiances would have any significance if Steve hadn't done the work the good Lord put him here to do. There was no more important a man into making the game what it was. He built the sport moreso than any player, coach, or owner, and he will be missed.

completely agree. My prayers go out to his family.

RIP Steve. A true genius and the creator of something that made me love the game (aside from playing). He will be missed. Thoughts and prayers with the Sabol family.

Whether you are a raider fan or not this should send chills up your spine when you think of autumn and football.

Steve Sabol wrote the poem. It was narrated by John Facenda. Sam Spence did the music.

Great clip!!

sad day.

guy is a very big part of growing up a fan of the NFL. time to set those DVRs on NFLN. they'll probably be playing a lot of NFL film stuff. they'll never be another like him. if there was a voice of the NFL, it would be his.

Football fans owe Steve and Ed Sabol a huge amount of gratitude (frankly so does the NFL).

Those two forever changed the way we watch the game.

Terrible news :(

Seriously doubt there'd be an NFL Network today had it not been for the success of NFL Films..

Believe it or not, his father Ed is still alive (age 96).

I'd like to think that when the Panthers and Giants play Thursday, Steve will be filming from above (with John Facenda narrating).
