i'm gonna order a pizza and watch sportscenter until the nurse tells me it's delivered.

I will tell you from personal experience that this is NOT a good idea.

I did something similar with our first child.

I was told to pack food for myself because if the birth goes long, you will not be able to get away and get food....and your blood sugar will drop. Therefore, I packed myself a nice set-up with snacks, a sub, drinks, etc.

Wife went into labor early Sat morning and off to the hospital we went. The labor was slow and tiresome for my wife. At about 2pm, they had to take her for a walk down the hall to try and speed things up. I stayed in the room. When my wife returned, I had broken out a sub and thought it was a good idea to turn on the TV to college football.

I assure you.....this was NOT a good idea. She almost killed me.

Now I'm confused? Do girls in short shorts make you want to have babies? Or just make you want to practice having babies?

My (ex) wife was in labor, I was trying to coach her thru contractions...they had this little belt sensor thing around her belly to show the contractions. You could kind of see them coming.

She starts screaming and I say "its OK this one is just a little one".

Bad move. Don't ever say that.

DONT TELL ME THIS IS A LITTLE ONE !!!!!!!

Our OB is a friend, so she let me deliver our first.

Didn't get the honor for #2, since he decided to get hung up on the cord.

He got the suction cup treatment on his melon, and the monitors going off had to be silenced...since both mom and dad knew exactly what the hell was going on. Since we were at HER hospital, you get the idea...the whole damn place was in our room.
I think they even mobilized the friggin chopper.

All ended up fine, but I had to have a seat.

I have seen some really jacked up crap in my time, but nothing quite gets to you like worrying about your own.

For now....

enjoy some of your last completely worry-free sleeps, once you have kids, you never sleep the same.
It is like always being on watch.

enjoy doing whatever the hell you feel like doing, whenever the hell you feel like doing it, because like it or not, your priorities better damn well change.

baby/toddler proof your homestead NOW, because that one is NOT best left for trial and error.

enjoy the most frustrating AND enjoyable AND inportant job you'll ever have, being a dad.
