Well, if he is mandated to pay child support, then I think he has the right to visit the child. Lots of unknowns - was it really rape and pled down to statutory? Was it consensual and now she no longer wants anything to do with him? Are the parents pressuring her to resist?

Consider this: I know a guy that is a registered sex offender convicted of statuatory rape. He was turned in by the girls parents. He has now been married to his "victim" for 16 years! His children know the facts - they have been asked many times why their daddy shows up on the website.

Point is that without all of the details of the crime, its kind of hard to judge. If he's paying, then let him see his child.

I agree with you that if this is the case if an 18 yo having consensual sex with a 16 yo then he should be allowed to see the child.

However, if this was forced rape in any way, the rapist pos should NEVER be allowed to see the child. That would be the equivalent of making the victim relive the crime over and over....which "might be" the reason he wants to
