Would love him as a DC, but not a HC.

A little too laid back for me to give him the reins to this horse.

cant be as laid back as Rivera.
Wade is a defensive genius. Id love to see Phillips here with a 34 Defense.
Hes by far a better coach than Rivera.

Id love to have a guy like Mike Zimmer, but Id rather pay a guy like Phillips who has experience as a HC. Phillips is a guy who deserves the most to be another HC somewhere.

I think he is.

The posters in this thread that say MH should of been fired with Fox are right on the money.

Sorta OT but what good would that do? I can't stand him either and I think he should have been fired..

If he's just going by what JR wants then it doesn't really matter what GM we have, right?

Honestly, we need a real D coordinator more so than a new HC.

That said, we need to start with Hurney.

Don't know about that....for example people think McD did a bad job against Atl.....which just isn't true.

McD needs talent. He has been trying to work around GLARING holes since he got here. Easiest fix seems to be just to give him some decent players

I see your point but the issue with Marty is his talent evaluation. He likes the expression "build through the draft" but how in the hell are we supposed to do that when only 1-2 of the players drafted are on the roster a couple seasons later?

McDermott hasn't shown anything to suggest he's very good at his job. Not in Philly (fired for being terrible) and not here (2 seasons now with a laughable defense).

Not going to argue here.

I have just always been a bit leery of McD.

We need help at DT, CB, S, and DE.

Those positions are sooooo important, and Hurney does not seem to care.

Again, the pick should have been Cox.

If you wanted Bill Cowher.....we should of just kept Fox. I don't want that....uphill battle. Rivera is right in embracing a forward thinking offense. We need a defensive minded coach to pair with Newton that can aid this D yet support a modern day offense.

You don't know football if you think Cowher and Fox are the same.

Cowher is far more agressive.

The most important position in the front office is general manager. I would like to see us find a GREAT one who knows how to draft well before we move forward on finding a better head coach.

The question is, who is out there and will Richardson spend the money to hire them?

Hurney has had some positives but has failed to draft well late. We are struggling because of it. Hurney can't land a great return specialist or corner-back to save his life!!!

Wish we had Mike Nolan at D coordinator and a dude to stand behind Chud to edit his insane playcalling at times...

chud: lets go wildcat with Deangelo...

Guy standing behind him: Ahem! Cough! Nope..bad move

chud: your right! Lets pound this ball in a tight I formation and use a play action if needed..no need to be cute at this point of the game!

WE ALL WIN!

Cowher had one of the greatest general managers in Pittsburgh when he coached there. You take him away, you just have another angry coach on the sidelines that looks pissed off for the fans but never wins anything.

Think of Ditka in New Orleans. His anger started to ware off with Chicago and it was no longer effective on the team. After years, he was just a grumpy old guy that nobody respected. He went to the Saints and his "toughness" didn't work there either. BUT at least the fans in New Orleans enjoyed seeing an emotional coach, right? Sure... :)
