Yes, but what Atl can and did dictate what defenders not named Nakamura were doing....you continuously overlook the responsibilities other defenders had and what they then had to adjust to as the play unfolded.

Nakamura's job was simple.

I do not, I understand others responsibilities and Godfrey's was to come over and help with the two receivers on the other side which he was late doing. I mean as soon as Douglas motions in to max protect there is no body on Godfrey's side of the field to guard. Dre Bly said on the radio this morning the same thing I have been say and that is Naka was caught in the middle of trying to help out two teammates, now it doesn't excuse him playing the ball and not the man, that was completely on him but other guys made mistakes on that play too.

And Naka's job was not simple tell me how you would have guarded against this coming at you? Two teammates beat and you are the last line of defense because the SS is late getting to his spot.

I'd probably back-peddle at half speed for 15 yards once the ball was thrown then jump three inches into the air in an attempt for glory.

But again, you aren't giving enough credit to Atl and acknowledging enough of the jobs other defenders had. Gamble was also blitzing....so Godfrey couldn't abandon his duty on motion alone....

Nakamara's job was simple. Keep all action in front of him. Rivera even bluntly said how simple it was. Didn't matter there were 2 WRs....only way Ryan gets a ball to midfield is a high floater which allows a S keeping action in front of him to breakup either.

I hope that Martin is available if Naka struggles again, but I think that we'll be ok against the Seahawks...

It will take alot of games of good performance to erase that poo from last sunday.

EXACTLY! The 360 pirouette, ballet move STILL haunts me as much as the 3" leap for glory, hail mary play. Somehow the apologists on this board want to forget Naka's overall play was mind-numbingly poor. It wasn't just one play and it won't be easily forgotten.

He did have the only pick of the game, and if Im not mistaken it happen in the red zone.

Im not gonna go to bat for the guy, but he may have some potential. That was a pretty stout Offense we were up against.

Nakamura was beaten for two touchdowns BEFORE the now infamous 3" leap of glory and that equates to an overall assessment of "mind-numblingly poor". While he may have "some potential" as you stated, he still has a looooong way to go to make up for this deficit.

He also had a nice breakup on a corner route in the end zone, he had good plays and bad plays but so did a bunch of other guys in the secondary. Naka is easy to blame because a lot of people on here don't understand defensive responsibilities and they just notice the last guy that didn't make the play. Naka maned up and took the blame let's hope he learns from his mistakes and plays better this week.

Those bad plays WERE VERY BAD PLAYS, and they broke every fundamental concept of playing safety.

Naka should be benched after last week's game - taking the entire game into account. Not just because he gave up big plays, but because he didn't look like he had the physical ability to play the position...

It's one thing to be out of position, it's another to be beaten by a spectacular athlete, but if a FS can't make a play on the ball because he's falling down... well he can't really play FS in the NFL. Just looked really clumsy and out of sorts, sort of like 10 year olds playing football.

I would have kept back peddling and not let a receiver behind me .. considering that's the number one job of a safety playing zone. You're welcome.

Hopefully he doesn't get burnt today, but I'm not holding my breath. Even with Russell Wilson at QB

I think if we do lose another game because of him somebody needs to be fired. And if im Hurney and Rivera i would not be riding my future on that. Not with the way this fanbase has been let down.
