Very misleading. Example....Clinton's 3.2 spending....came about because of the elections of 1994. Newt Gingrich and Bob Dole led the charge to balance the budget, not Clinton.

Not necessarily, you would have to take population dynamics into account. Baby boomers and all that

us-population-pyramid.jpg

The work force ages (15-55) looks pretty steady to me. How is this pattern different from previous decades?

Want something to spur your conspiracy theories?

339K weekly jobless claims being spread over news currently which looks a tic better than the normal 375k.

This week however, some states did not report, so there is no recording of their claims, so they just go with the incomplete report like it is normal. Yeah, can't be October now can it.

Bill Clinton: “We need a Congress that loves it when unemployment drops”

Good quote that cuts to the heart of the matter. Instead of getting poo done and trying to lower unemployment, our obstructionist congress is actually upset about it.

And the media's attempts to provide aircover and support for Obama's failed fiscal policies continues in full force.

Looks like California just happened to not get their numbers submitted in time for the report. Well, fancy that.

I don't think social security is fugged. Raise the cap from $106k so millionaires chip in more = social security sustainability.

Yeah social security is fuged

Social Security has been fugged from the outset... especially since Washington started raiding it like it was their own personal piggy bank. Aside from the fact that it is predicated on an ever-increasing workforce contributing to the SS fund, it requires that there never be a hiccup in that trend.

We are now looking at raising the retirement age to stave off the inevitable to artificially inflate the workforce numbers in the short term. The long term will eventually have us printing currency like Zimbabwe so the government can "keep its promise" of SS... only our currency will be worth nothing by that time. Only with that, we have killed EVERYONE's retirement plans by that time.

My hope is that we deal with it in my lifetime rather than passing that fiasco to our kids.

The article in its entirety is a good one... the snapshot you provide is misleading. At least you provided the link for any of us that decide to read it.

IT'S SO POLITICALLY MOTIVATED!!!! THE PRESIDENT MADE THOSE STATISTICIANS AND ECONOMISTS FUDGE THOSE NUMBERS!!!

In the week ending October 13, the advance figure for seasonally adjusted initial claims was 388,000, an increase of 46,000 from the previous week's revised figure of 342,000.

http://www.cnbc.com/id/49460659

Weekly applications for U.S. unemployment benefits jumped 46,000 last week to a seasonally adjusted 388,000, the highest in four months. The increase represents a rebound from the previous week's sharp drop. Both swings were largely due to technical factors.

The Labor Department says the four-week average of applications, a less volatile measure, fell slightly to 365,500, a level consistent with modest hiring.

Last week, California reported a large drop in applications, pushing down the overall figure to the lowest since February 2008.

This week, it reported a significant increase as it processed applications delayed from the previous week.

"Technical factors" aka bs.

they knew that the numbers were not accurate yet they were still released....conveniently just after the debate.

Should have waited a few days to actually get accurate informaation.....oh wait, that would not have shown a slight decrease (for which the media jumped all over as an indication of recovery).

They knew the data was incorrect, yet the media convenietly chose to ignore that fact. As I said, the media is providing so much air cover for Obama that it is comical.
