Nevada is struggling mightily. Anthony voiced a moral view on a difficult issue. I don't see how anyone would be offended by that advertisement unless they were delusional.

someone should let him know that mittens is a member of an organization that explicitly treated black people as subhuman until deciding to not be so explicit about it in 1978, bringing us such gems as "black people are cursed" and "Cain slew his brother. Cain might have been killed, and that would have put a termination to that line of human beings. This was not to be, and the Lord put a mark upon him, which is the flat nose and black skin. Trace mankind down to after the flood, and then another curse is pronounced upon the same race—that they should be the ‘servant of servants’; and they will be, until that curse is removed; and the Abolitionists cannot help it, nor in the least alter that decree."

If a celebrity takes a political position on twitter, they are going to get ripped. Its true regardless of democrat or republican, and its just the nature of the beast these days.

While it is true that people will engage in despicable rhetoric with the anonymity of the internet, when looking at what is closer to the norm between reversed examples it is pretty clear which side is seen as more socially acceptable. If you don't acknowledge this, you are being intentionally obtuse.
I've heard racism of all kinds being white. When someone thought they were confiding me in confidence, it was always in hushed tones because they knew it was not accepted. When I was in public with my fiance (who is black), both she and I were subjected to some pretty ridiculous poo in public because of the color of our skin.
