It obviously worked

how long did it take, though?

people are wanting to cut bait with rivera but kubiak was really not much better at this point in his tenure there.

I can see something similar happening here. I'm not sure how long Chud will stick around (especially if he doesn't diversify/improve his playcalling) and I can see us bringing in a seasoned OC to take over that side of the ball. So far, Rivera and McDermott seem to have the DEF going the right direction and all that's needed is better personnel on the DL and DB. There are major holes on OFF, particularly @ OL and WR, in addtion to the playcalling.

have you seen the roster of the 2006 houston texans?

Since when are the Panthers starting guys as bad as Fred Weary, DeMarcus Faggins, Anthony Weaver, and Shantee Orr?

i will add, tho, that the texans got themselves a new GM to help turn the team around after the '06 draft.

they also didn't keep around beloved players at the expense of building the team.

they let williams go and used that money on solid vet FAs and drafted well.

I'd love to see Hurney logic at work trying to rebuild the Texans in the mid 2000s

Ummm..... the Texans didn't suddenly go from craptastic to sensational overnight.... Panther fans expected a freaking miracle and when they didn't get it.... well, just look at the Huddle

we started fua and mcclain in the middle of the Dline.

captain munnerlynn was our 2nd best corner. we were down to what exactly as our starting line up at LB after the 3rd week? how many rookies and first year players did we start throughout the season? how many new starters do we have this year?

sorry....but we started some pretty bad players last year. naanee starting across from smitty?

lol. mare doing FGs?

it was bad.

the OP opened the door there. kubiak was a respected coordinator with no HC experience. he started out his tenure with a 6-10 record and didn't get his first winning season for a couple years after that.

would you say that kubiak is a good HC? better than rivera? based on what exactly? what took him 5-6 years to work on?

you're not going to get me arguing in favor of hurney. wouldn't bother me at all to move on from him. i think it could be a very good thing, though there's an element of "better the devil you know than the devil you don't" in there. still, it's probably time to move on unless hurney can get his head out of his ass and build the team better. not counting on that happening, though.

So I guess we're supposed to give every clueless coach an automatic six years to figure out simple clock management before we can really evaluate if their system will work or not.

Glenn Earl
Wali Lundy
CC Brown
Anthony Maddox

The 2006 Texans did not have good personnel, and this was after they had made multiple positional upgrades.

They don't have anything in common beyond that. Kubiak inherited a worse roster and a shell shocked QB and still managed to display a measure of competency in his first year. They swept the Jaguars and beat the Colts in a close game, the team who happened to win the superbowl that year.

Also Kubiak started 3-2 his second year, not 1-4.

To a top tier unit this season? What did they do right, that obviously the panthers are doing wrong? Wish we could make that sort of turn around....

They went and got themselves a QB who could run an NFL offense.
