No.
You find someone n the top 10 that needs/wants a QB and you turn the number one pick into 3 or 4 other picks in this draft.
as an armchair GM, i wouldn't need so many picks since i wouldn't rely on the draft so much to build/fix my team.
oustide of the first round, the draft is usually nothing more than a crap shoot.

we could end up with like three first round non-"crap shoot" picks spread over two drafts if we get something like the rams' haul for robert griffin.
really if we need to "push cam" it'd be smarter to just bring in a veteran and declare an open competition or the like instead of bringing in another rookie. how stupid would it be to draft a guy at the top of the draft only for him to possibly spend his panthers career as a backup if he sucessfully "pushes cam" and we don't need him?

what if geno has problems adjusting? what if he has issues that slow down his progress? do we go out and draft another QB in a year or two?
there is no more guarantee that geno will succeed than cam...probably less.
you don't go drafting QBs at the first sign of trouble. that would be monumentally dumb.
cam isn't clausen.
i can promise you that you wouldn't have made this thread if you weren't such a WVU homer.

bringing in a vet to push a rookie rarely works, and the panthers do need another qb.
the panthers are bad now...but God help this team if anderson or clausen have to take over the reins.

we absolutely have the right man for the job for the next 15 years. it's just a matter of 1) letting him develop and grow up and 2) making sure he's got the right talent around him on both sides of the ball and the right coaching to help him reach the goals we all have for this team.
there may be quite a few places that we need help, but QB isn't one of them. we need as much help there as we do at RB. cam makes us stacked at QB.

so best case scenario is that the top pick in the draft pushes cam to greatness (competition breeds excellence!) and he's now a career backup.
fantastic. trolling or not?

it's only trolling because it's not a generalized nuthugging opinion many people want to agree with.

We aren't drafting a QB this year....at all. I'll bet my home on that.

lol so it's "nuthugging" to think that your contingency plan for cam which involves literally drafting a backup with the top pick overall makes no sense from a practical or value standpoint.
what a lame fallback argument. really if your plan works as it's supposed to we would have spent the top overall pick on a guy to ride the bench. that would be far and away the stupidest thing hurney had ever done and that's a tall fuging order.
