We all get that Cam Newton is a special athlete, but it seems like his skill set has led to the Panthers creating an offense that fails to get the best out of some of their best (and most expensive) players. That never ends well.

I don't see any reason to argue with that.

We have a terrible scheme. I don't know whether that's because our coaching staff thinks Cam can't run a standard offense or because he's just better at this....but it's clear that we are running a scheme that just isn't going to get it done. Until we fix that it doesn't matter what kind of effort individual players put forth.

I mean correct me if Im wrong but it seemed to me last year we ran a pro style offense with a couple of sprinkles of the option and whatnot. We were ranked top 10 in offense.

I guess we got too cute and the saying If it aint broke don't fix it applies to this offense this season.

We've been shitty for sure but we are actually one play away in back to back games from being 3-2 instead of 1-4.

Pretty much. Not running the 2 TE sets that we ran last year is a pretty big departure. So is our coaching staff fully drinking the option kool-aid and running it as our base offense instead of just as something to do situationally.

I am confused by the change myself.

The most ironic thing is most of us bought into the shortened offseason last year and thought we would see a more diverse bigger playbook this year. Instead it seems like we totally dumbed it down for some reason.

really starting to miss shockey. he was cash on third down and brought a kind of nastiness and attitude on offense that we just don't have now. it really seems like nobody is going to step up and fill his role either.

At first I thought it was dumbed down for some reason. After this many weeks I've decided that it's not dumbed down - it's brand fuging new.

Someone on the offensive staff has been huffing paint since the end of the season last year.
