Just wondering where that phrase originated and how it came about? -

I think somebody said it about him nailing most of his first round draft picks. Now it's mostly used in a condescending way by Panther fans that dislike Hurney and the moves he's made.

i thought it had more to do with his ability to manage the cap.

i don't know. it's been around for a long time, though, and it's not considered praise anymore.

it's usually said in quotes.

Yeah it started with his ability to manage the cap and nail his first round picks, but now it's used against him.

More importantly who really cares? Sometimes it's spot on accurate, and sometimes it's used sarcastically. Either way, if you've been a fan of the Panthers for an extended period of time you fully understand that there's nothing truly magical about Hurney

People trying to justify nonsense and odd moves.....

Technically we like all 32 teams get under the cap to operate.....this basic manipulation that every GM ever employed has been able to do was deemed Hurney magic

is kinda like saying hurney is selling snake oil - but more polite in a redneck/ british sort of way

(note this comment was posted by someone using their redneck card and with the full knowledge that and brit that might be offended is probably watching.... soccer. (shudders)
