Cam Newton currently is in 29th place when it comes to attempts. The only other quarterbacks lower than him are Russell Wilson, Josh Freeman, Jack Locker, and Matt Hasselbeck. Cam Newton is still leading in Average Yards Per attempt even after that dismal performance against the Seahawks. That means we have to throw the ball more. Cam is 32nd when it comes to Attempted Runs and is 8 carries behind Deangelo. Chud NEEDS to give Cam some more passing opportunities or he's not going to improve.
I think this just shows our defense can't get opposing offenses off the field because its not like we're running a lot either.

A big reason Cam's attempts are down is we have gotten killed in time of possession in 2 or 3 games, thus fewer plays overall.

We need to run more
We need to throw more.
I read this as: we need to do either one of those things more effectively, get more first downs, and thus run more plays. Then everyone will be happy!

our defense has actually played damn well considering everything. it's like this year and last year have been completely flipped.

basically this. How many 3 and outs do we have?
we don't have the passing attempts cause we aren't on the field long enough. not enough first downs. too many 3 and outs. we are 29th in time of possession with just over 26 minutes. 27th in number of plays.
number of passing plays is the least of our problems.

Bingo.
The offense does not stay on the field long enough for him to have attempts.
I think we can all agree that it's kind of difficult to convert on the 3rd down when u burn the first two downs on the read option that the defense knows is coming.

It's ok though - because the read option we run on 3rd down will fool them.
Noone expects a third read option.
