Fundamental Question: How is Christianity not polytheism?

133 posts in this topic

Mainstream Christianity believes that Satan is an actual entity with powers to transform himself, travel instantly all over the world, live in an unearthly place, and have the ability to influence if not completely take over human consciousness.

Call it what you will, but Satan is a god, much like the gods of Roman and Greek times. He may not be omnipotent and all powerful, none of the Roman gods were either. But clearly he possesses powers of a godly nature. The same can be said for Demons and even Angels. All Gods, with their terminology changed out of convenience.

I'm not saying polytheism is a bad thing or a good thing, makes no difference to me. But why not call it what it is?

Christianity also defines God as being everything (at least in some part) and simultaneously superior to everything.

Just to expand your parameters a bit...;)

I thought Satan was an angel that had been banished from heaven.

Of course there is God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.

They say its 3 in 1 but it sounds like 3 to me.

Not to mention the fact that the best verses that support the trinity were added to the Bible in the 9th century or something like that.

If I am wrong I will be a long time dead. If all you big bad ass mfers are wrong, they are stokin' up some hot fires for you to be frying in eternally. Just imagine how it would be to be burning forever. :mad5::mad5::mad5::mad5::mad5::mad5::mad5::mad5::mad5:

    • Glad you can point to 1 off season to hang your hat on, when it comes to your opinion.  Doesn't give you much to stand on. What exactly are we crowning him anyways?
    • I'm sure he's learned his lesson not to have a conversation with our fan base because of the way this way blown out of context. He didn't ask a question. He didn't imply anything. However, the same fans that only read headlines and then share posts on Facebook (without reading the article) decided to make all kinds of accusations and assumptions about this. So yeah....Bill should be more clear because we aren't very smart.  Edit: FYI...."if picked up" is not a question it's a statement. Should he have just assumed instead?
    • Nate Silver did an analysis on this, and not sure which party it would benefit more but what he did say was that it would likely hurt GOP more to pass it than for it to fail That is how unpopular this bill was
