One football game to Duke or one basketball game to Duke? I've always considered the State football game to be more important than the Duke game, but you cant really compare it to basketball
read the post i referred to
"carolina fans would rather lose for five years in a row to state than lose one game to duke IN FOOTBALL"
because the duke rivalry just trumps everything ya know even when duke is never even competitive.
simply put, you only watch carolina basketball if you think duke is your biggest football rival.

You would think so, but then again unc/state has been rather one sided in both sports lately.
Were UNC-duke big football rivals back in the Steve Spurrier days when duke was good? That was before my time.

Would any other unc fans like to chime in here?
Preferably alumni: would you rather lose to ncstate in football for five straight years, or lose one game to duke?
I'm just curious if others feel this way.
It is true to an extent. I wouldn't say that, but I'd much rather lose to State than Duke in any sport, and 9/10 sports fans on campus would agree with me. Duke is our rival, school to school, not just basketball team to basketball team. It goes down to everything and extends far beyond sports.
State is definitely the #2 rival, but the two aren't even close.
I will say though, I thoroughly enjoyed that win yesterday. My voice is gone, the screaming after that TD was the loudest thing I have ever heard, louder than concerts. The student section went so crazy, and it was an incredible experience to be apart of.

Dont be so insecure. Five straight years of state football wins qualifies as "one-sided"

I thought you meant one sided in regards to carolina beating stateDont be so insecure. Five straight years of state football wins qualifies as "one-sided"
but even then most of those wins were competitive games so I don't think it's been one sided like "two wins in twenty years" one sided(counting the vacated ones as wins for unc)

Same result, but it's obvious Duke is the bigger basketball rival. So what truth is Google supposed to be telling us again?
The most competitive football rivalry is UNC/Duke. But the overall school to school rivalry of UNC/Duke is much larger.
