A few things to think about...

If you watched the whole presser, Cam's comments about the script came immediately after he talked about his play needing to improve and the losses from a play here or there. I did not get the sense that his comments were directed at Chud anymore than at himself.

Next, please consider that in the last 24 hours we have heard direct quotes from the ex-GM and our current head coach that they don't know what's wrong and aren't sure how to fix it. In spite of that, our 23 year old, 2nd year QB is supposed to go in front of the press and diplomatically tell them what's wrong while exhibiting perfect emotional control.

So no, I don't think the criticism is fair in any way.

Cam did talk about his failures. But, as much as I hate to admit it....when he loses...he is moping....and I am sorry, it almost seems like he feels like he is a victim. He also mentioned the coordinator in this presser......a big NONO. Cam is not a rookie anymore. He needs to man up. He comes across as self centered with his ridiculous Superman celebrations when he scores. His losing sulking is getting old. Someone needs to grow a pair and be straight with Cam. If I need to be the one...someone hook me up.

Cam's press demeanor needs to improve. Completely agree with that. You can't always look defeated after a loss. It sends the wrong message to the team.

Am I upset that he called Chud to the carpet... no. It needed to be done, and only he or Rivera could do it and something would happen. Rivera didn't do it, so Cam took it upon himself. Ideally Cam should have spoken to Rivera and Chud directly instead of airing their dirty laundry, but we aren't privy to what conversations they've had on the subject and could have felt he needed to take the next step.

Perhaps, but before you can start calling people to the carpet, you got to have your own poo tight. No one is making Cam throw picks or wounded ducks in the red zone. No one caused Cam to make a crucial fumble against the Falcons, with almost certain victory but a yard away. Leaders have to finish the deal on the field. In my opinion, Cam's game isn't great enough to be calling people to the carpet without him voluntarily going to the carpet himself and criticizing his own failings first and foremost.

We might not want to hear it, but true leaders don't sulk out in the open. They project a certain demeanor on the outside (even if they are not exactly sure what's going on on the inside), because they realize that people are looking to them---right or wrong---to get them to the promised land.

Everybody in the media and even some of our fans put losses solely on Cam's shoulders....

Then he says, "fug it, I'll talk as if this is my team to run" with some of his comments....

And people get pissed? If he doesn't say anything at all, he's immature. If he speaks his mind and is honest and forthcoming, he's almost always called immature. You want him to kiss ass? Want him to put on a fake smile and not be honest? Is this what we've come to? Pardon the South Park reference, but when did we lower the bar to saying, "no, don't let these overly-criticized athletes be honest when asked a question"? If coaches/ownership don't want players answering certain questions, then they should screen them and if one gets sneaked in, then they should cut the interview there and say next question or just pull the player away. Short of doing that, if the man is asked a question, and he's honest and speaks his mind, and it's not something you like....figure out WHY he is saying it rather than bitch about the fact THAT he said it.

Cam is not a genius. Not particularly close. He doesn't naturally speak like RG3 or Luck or Brady or anyone along those lines. He needs a much stronger leader (HC) who can help rein in some of verbal tendencies to make a problem worse. I think he can improve with the right leader; Rivera clearly ain't it.

There is definately room for improvement, but Cam is only 23 years old and has dominated the sport of football everywhere he has been... until now. It shouldn't be surprising that he is not handling losing it in a way that an older more experienced individual might.

If his supporting cast of players and coaches were more seasoned and successful in their own careers, I seriously doubt we would be seeing this side of him.

As it is, this team is in chaos right now and we are seeing some of the typical symptoms of that reality.

Anyone remember Kerry Collins?

I love how the media chooses to treat his suggestion box comment as a serious statement.....

They talk about Cam's immaturity....treating that comment as serious must mean they have IQs of 3 yr olds

You're on point.

I guess Warren Moon was right in calling out the media and their clear bais towards Cam.

What's so sad is the cowardness of the Panther fans. Or is there something else behind the constant desire to follow the media's lead and criticize Cam at every turn?

I'm so glad the Jets fans saw through the media and ignored them when they set out to have the Jets get rid of Sanchez and replace him with tjeir more chosen QB, The Golden Calf of Bristol.

The media owns the NFL. It seems they now call the shots with silly articles like this.

Please show me how an older and more experienced QB handles losing. God...Are you folks seriously this SHALLOW?

Every ish the media writes about this kid you folks jump on. Talk about dumbing down. How do you not know what is really fustrating Cam? Why does it have to be about his maturity level because someone in the media says so?

Do you folks even know this kid? Have you ever taken the time to see who he really is or have you simply made up your minds based on the media constant spoonfeeding you?

Who fugging cares if Cam mopes. Let the damn kid mope if he wants. Tom Brady is fugging thirty something and I don't recall him all smiles when his danm team loses. Your damn team is a mess and all you folks are concerned about is the every dumb ish the media sit and make up about your QB.

FYI, your FUGGING TEAM isn't 1-5 because Cam mopes or sit with a fugging towel on his head nor don't smile during his presser. FUGGING BUY A CLUE.

I swear ESPN and others must come to this site and see how you folks behave towards Cam. You seriously make their job easy.

Cam Newton is being ruined. In the aftermath of Sunday’s loss to the Cowboys, Newton, once again, handled the postgame news conference horribly. He not-so-subtly criticized his coaching staff. He flippantly quipped that he wanted to bring a suggestion box into the news conference. He condescendingly called a female reporter “sweetheart.”

He sounded like a crybaby and a loser. The black information bubble immediately leaped to Cam’s defense, claiming Cam’s critique of the offensive strategy was accurate.

The accuracy of his complaints is irrelevant. A quarterback is in partnership with his head coach and offensive coordinator. Their disagreements and criticisms should be handled internally and not referenced at a news conference by the QB.

You are right footballisasport Cam has no room for improvement at 23 years old. That must have just been my "shallowness" coming through again.
