Getting some rain and light wind here in ILM at this point.

Hoping for no inland flooding.

I tend bar at Cape Fear National Golf Course and they told me not to come into work today. They still had 9 people on the course though, haha. Though, thats a fair share less than our usual 200 or so.

LOL, just read this. That third one made me chuckle. Oh, and if you think CMS is a nightmare, just imagine it here.

  • Evacuations: Mayor Michael Bloomberg ordered the evacuation of of more than 370,000 people from parts of lower Manhattan and the Rockaways, a low-lying area of Queens.
  • Schools closed: The New York City school system, which serves 1.1 million students, will be closed Monday.
  • Starbucks closed: All New York City and Long Island Starbucks coffee shops closed at 4 p.m. Sunday and will remain closed Monday.

Slow moving system hope whoever is up there has 3 days worth of food. Clean up will be a mess with the storm surge. Won't be surprised if airports in long island are shutdown til Thursday.

My parents have been in Europe for the last month in a half and just barely made it back to the US this weekend before Philly airport was shut down. Sucks to come back from vacation only to prepare for one of the worst storms in that areas history in only a couple hours. They live in South Jersey about 30 miles inland and are supposed to get blasted by this. My brother lives along the banks of the Delaware river and has been sandbagging all weekend to keep the river from taking his home. Pretty sure they need an awful lot of water in order for that river to overflow it's banks but this should be a good test.

My husband just called to tell me he's headed north tomorrow. The rig is leaving this morning with a crew to get everything set up for tonight and tomorrow, and then he'll take over in the afternoon. I'm not sure when he'll be back.

A couple of photos from some friends. First one is from my buddy in Atlantic City and the other is of another friends Patio door. The worst is still 12 hours away from what they say.

And this is what happens when you don't listen to mandatory evacuations. Don't think someone is going to come save your a$$ either,.
