I was just wondering, who started this ridiculous offensive option change this year? We seemed to have been heading in the right direction from last year but now our backs are used as pawns to the option read crap. When Rivera made his intro speech as HC, he stated he was excited to have two 1000 yarders as running backs, now you rarely use them to this atrocious offensive scheme? Who was responsible for this stupid turn of events? They are the other one who should be fired. Who is being held accountable for that?

Ultimately it would be Rivera for letting it happen this long, but I'd have to say it's was Chud that headed up the "change".

I'm just hope'n this his gigantic playbook wasn't all variations of the read-option!

Truth is, had we not be locked out last offseason this wouldve been our base last year. Chud and the coaches had all offseason to work with and implement a system for Newton. This is what they came up with. They had no such luxury last year.

I believe last season is the fundamental reason for this flawed offensive scheme.

There is a reason for every change, whether we want to believe it or not. I doubt it is coaching ineptitude.

I think it is because this offense gives Cam the best chance to succeed, nothing more. It would explain why they haven't changed it through 6 games, and why we saw quite a bit of it at the end of last year too.

Chud had complete control of the offense.

Chud is at fault but then he would blame Cam and say he was using plays that best suited his QB.

I know this guy goes out to eat, so I wonder if he's been approached by fans yet and what his answer is/will be as to why he's calling crappy plays.

I've got to assume that after our surprising offensive success of last year, Chud was given a lot more freedom to do what he wanted. I don't think they would make a change like that if it was against what he wanted to do.. Remember, we were actually afraid someone might poach him as a HC.

I have a feeling it's a combo deal.

O Line is not as good.

Cam has regressed a bit.

Chud is losing his mind.

All of those together makes for a deadly cocktail.

Last season we slowly used it more and more....at the end of 2011 it was HEAVILY used.

I still think the 2 TE base we were using vs 3 WR now is probably the biggest reason for the setback. Extra blocker when running or another mid level target passing.

Sounds strange I suppose it depends on the reasoning recent changes have been made. Is it to a reaction of how we are preforming? A reaction to just Hurney's part in this, still neglecting the other reasons such as the offense which means it may continue? Or is this reaction just JRs response knowing he has to do something or does he believe coaching is the problem? Why was Hunry fired? Yea he sucked but he has sucked for a while and he was just extended so why now? If this (firing Hurney) wasn't a change that is going to improve our chances of winning games, which will only be done through changes in hte offense, seems JR may be just starting to rebuild.

I don't care when it started, who's idea it was to use it or who is responsible for making the decision.

What I do care about is the fact that it continues although it has been consistently proven that it doesn't work. Even Pavlov's dogs didn't take this long to be not stupid.
