Your probably right that he misses the kick. However the chance he makes the field goal is greater than the chances of scoring a TD in that situation. That's why any other coaching staff in the NFL would have kicked the field goal.He got a 45 yarder in off a lucky bounce. I seriously doubt he would've been able to make the FG at the end of the half

He really, really, really is the dumbest coach ever.
@Joe Person
Ron Rivera said they didn't try 50-yard field goal at the end of the first half because he was concerned about the Cross wind. It's last play of half, take a chance

worried about cross winds? lmao
hail mary almost never works, even a tough FG gives you much better odds to come away with points

its too windy to kick a fg... throw a 50 yard bomb into the endzone Cam! wind only affects the kicking game!
what goes on in Ron's head just baffles me

I'd say you have at least a 20-30% chance to hit that 51 yarder, if not more. The hail mary is basically 0%.
It's just scared football. Rivera not giving his guys a chance to make a play.

Plus the a blocked kick, which is more likely on a long one with lower angle.
And to chase down the return you have like 2 fast guys and the rest big/slower once.
So it is to a no risk option like most of you seems to think.
That being said, I still kick it.

You guys do understand that a short field goal is returable?

Medlock is known for having a big leg on FGs. Being short wasn't a problem.

I am not so sure, the wind can do funny things with the ball. And there is always the uprights to hit to set up a return.

Odds of making a 51 yard FG vs odds of converting a 51 yard pass for a TD.
Yeah, he made the right move, lol.

the chance of making that hail mary is pretty close to 0%
try the field goal, you miss it, so what. give yourself a chance at points
Especially given that Cam did not even put the fuging ball in the field of play. He threw it into the stands behind the end zone....his accuracy had been poo this season.

You are missing to point
Odds of giving up points by making a hail mary vs odds of giving up points by kicking 51 yards in windy conditions.
