I'm in the "hire Cowher" camp at this point, not because I think he's the greatest HC of all time - but because I think our next HC needs to have significant experience as a HC.

Part of our problem these past few years is that we've been mixing inexperience with inexperience... inexperienced HC (Rivera) coming out of a lockout with an inexperienced QB (Cam) and a good number of inexperienced players on defense, etc.

This is a talented but inexperienced team, we need an experienced HC to guide them.

Yes no more "experiments" please. Bring in a coach who knows what the hell he is doing. Cowher camp I'm in.

Ron Rivera and Rob Chudzinski relieved of their duties with the Carolina Panthers. Sean McDermott to finish the season as HC, while Mike Shula takes the reins on offense.

Where did you find this news?

Unless JR makes a surprise appearance in Rivera's presser, he isn't getting fired anytime soon.

Rivera is set to do his presser at noon.

9 Sun Nov 4, 2012 @Redskins

10 Sun Nov 11, 2012 Broncos

11 Sun Nov 18, 2012 Buccaneers

12 Mon Nov 26, 2012 @Eagles

13 Sun Dec 2, 2012 @Chiefs

14 Sun Dec 9, 2012 Falcons

15 Sun Dec 16, 2012 @Chargers

16 Sun Dec 23, 2012 Raiders

17 Sun Dec 30, 2012 @Saints

The Panthers do play the Eagles, Chiefs and Chargers. Reid and Norv maybe gone by them as well. (Though I think they won't be gone till year end.) Raiders & Saints are toss-ups.

So out of the last 9 games The Panthers have a 50-50 chance of winning 5 of them!

if we have a 50 50 chance then that means we'll lose all those and have a small chance to beat someone we have no business beating...

Mid-season head coach firings generally only serve to turn already bad seasons into even worse ones.

Not a huge stretch to think Rivera gets fired at the end of the year (though I still dont know if it's settled yet) but mid-season would be a mess.

or to give false hope to a somewhat successful interim coach ie Crennel and many others almost every year where the interim does better, the team keeps him and the team is poo the next year. Easiest example is Chiefs this year, plenty others in the past.

and anyone who decides to cleverly call our DC McDerp you could be a little more creative and say something like McDoormat which would be better for all the ignoramus' who want to put blame on him.
