So my wife and I are coming up on our 25th anniversary next year and want to go on one of those epic trips/vacations. We've been kicking around ideas for trips to different places that we've never been/always talked about going to but Ive started to wonder if we really want to go to those places or if we just think we do. I mean if we haven't ever been motivated enough to do more than talk about it maybe there is a reason.

So I turn to you good folk. Do a fellow Huddler a solid and throw out some suggestions of trips you've taken that rank up in the top spot of your vacations. Don't worry about it being the right time of year or the cost or anything else as we are just looking for some fresh ideas in the pot to help us out.

Athens, but that was before the Greek economy took a massive dookie.

What time of year are you talking about? I know some beaches in Mexico that are completely off the radar for tourists. Luxury + privacy.

Bareboating in the BVIs. It's not that expensive and it is super relaxing. Not for everyone though.

Its a tie between an 18 day New Zealand trip and a Southern Alp trip including side trips at Lake Como, Venice, and Prague

Kauai was beyond beautiful. London was fun. Austria/Germany/Italy was a blast. But they pail in comparison to my five-week road trip around the USA two summers ago. Best time I've ever had.

Austria really is a sweet country and Berlin is probably my favorite city in the world

My favorite was a three day trip to Gettysburg. But that is not for everyone.

As far as something you and your wife might enjoy, I would say Italy or Hawaii. Italy is great with historical sites such as Rome and Pompeii, the romantic with Venice, and incredible scenery along the Amalfi coastal road. Hawaii has great weather, beaches and luaus.



Also getting around in Italy is relatively easy with a Eurorail pass. Although the Italian trains tend to be slow.

I would tour Ireland along the west coast. No need to do Dublin. People are great, gorgeous countryside, and you can do B and Bs or castles.
