People also fail to realize, or don't care, that Stew ran the zone read at Oregon, DLo didn't run it at Memphis so he has far less experience.

Well, I didn't know that, but there's also a huge difference between running the zone read in college football - even major college football - and running it in the NFL.

You can always count on the same huddle members to not add anything substantive to a post. Good post OP!

He's good when he runs out of traditional sets like the I and Singleback. But he sucks when he runs out of the zone read, because everyone sucks out of the zone read at the NFL level.

it's actually the opposite.

• Who is the most effective on zone-read plays? Newton, who averages 5.8 yards per zone-read carry, DeAngelo Williams averages 5.0 yards on those plays, and Jonathan Stewart gains 4.0 yards.

• The statistics support using Stewart more often than Williams on traditional handoffs. Stewart averages 5.7 yards per carry on traditional handoffs, with Newton starting under center. Williams has 30 yards on 18 carries on that type of play, a 1.67-yard average.

You mean like Willis McGahee and the Denver Broncos who led the NFL in rushing last year ?

While running the read option almost exclusively?

This forum is embarrassing....

Stewart & williams are averaging almost the same ypc

stewart maintained a 4.0+ season average going into the chicago game. this is the first time it has dropped below that mark.

williams's season average has been below 4.0 since week 1.

Oh, sorry guys. I can't believe I've been criticizing the zone running game all this time. I meant the read-option. Studying all day for early-week exams took its toll on my mind.

Hondas are embarrasing, but fat girls rock! As long as they carry themselves well.

they intend to run the ball more, therefore he gets more touches...even as a backup.

it's that simple.

pretty much.

anyone with half a clue would have figured that one out.

You guys are missing my point. The bottom line is Rivera said D Will would be demoted to back up Stewie, what happens next? D Will ends up getting more carries than Stewart. Again, i was simply pointing out this is just uet another inept move by a inept coach.

i'm still confused.

since the bye week when the switch was made, when has williams had more carries than stewart?
