In another thread, the topic strayed to a discussion of our current crop of linebackers, and it got me thinking about how many truly good ones we've had over the years. Guys like Kevin Greene, Beason, Davis, and now Kuechly. There are a whole lot of others that could get a nod too. So just fro grins, tell us who your favorite is from among all the stellar ones that have worn the Panthers colors over the years since 1995, and give a brief reason why.

For me, it's still Kevin Greene, because he had a pure nastiness to his game that I've always loved. But I have to admit, Thomas Davis is right up there too, just because of his tenacity, smarts, hard hits, and leadership.

And yes, I think Kuechly is going to be a monster that might be the best we've ever had one day.

Favorite ever would be TD because of what he's been through, and how he never gave up. Though I will say Kuechly's play is rapidly ascending him up the ranks....

Can't forget about Morgan. When he was healthy, he was in control and all over the place; especially during the Super Bowl.

I like the rookie Kuechly. He's given us a much needed spark in run stopping. I also think Thomas Davis has been an unsung hero this year.

People do tend to forget about Davis.

I'd add that Anderson is a solid LB and would start on most NFL teams.

Sam Mills is my favorite. The best LB, in my opinion, was Thunder Dan Morgan. That dude was the fastest MLB I'd ever seen. Though Kuechly is right up there with him in regards to speed and instincts.

I think you have to distinguish between 3-4 linebackers like Green and Latham who were DEs really and 4-3 linebackers who are not primarily pass rushers.

3-4 OLBs- Green, Latham
3-4 ILBs- Sam Mills

4-3 OLBs- Will Witherspoon,, Davis
4-3 ILBs- Morgan, Beason, Kueckly

Davis solely on his tenacity and coming back from 3 ACLs and playin at the level he is... My heart jumped when I saw him still on the ground after hoppin over the pile yesterday... "What a shitass way for a 4th.." is the thought that went through my head....

Greene takes a close 2nd, Keuchly will prol'ly take it after a few more games.... Too many good choices...

Pie above for Witherspoon, forgot about him, loved that guy in a Panther uni... Fields too was no joke...

I became a fan during the short-lived "Dan Morgan" era, so I don't know much about the linebackers before him. My favorite LB has to be Thomas Davis.

I think it would be pretty cool if LilSmitty or somebody put together a vid with clips of our great linebackers laying the wood over the years. That would be something I'd enjoy watching for a long time to come!

Dan Morgan then Beason but if Witherspoon had stay for a lil longer only. Letting Witherspoon walk was one of the worst move ever. The dude is still a pretty damn good player to this day.
