Jairus Byrd FS

His contract is up after this year I believe and will be a free agent. He has yet to work out a contract with the Bills and is a straight up BALLER. He's fiery, a sure tackler and a ball hawker. It seems like this is exactly what we are missing on our much improved defense. Now even though we have our own cap problems the Bills do as well. After giving Super Mario that ridiculous contract they might not be able to give JByrd the contract he wants. He is also most likely disgruntled for awful Bills defensive play. I have a feeling the new GM will want to makes some serious moves through F/A and restructuring. Only question is what would you want to give up for this monster if anything at all?

Also I wonder how the Bills feel about Dwan having more sacks than Mario Williams?

Note: Also this is all under the assumption that the Bills let him walk and don't franchise him. But getting Byrd frees us up in the draft to address DT, WR, CB, OL or TE which I feel are our biggest needs.

- He also played college ball at Oregen for Chip Kelly and with Jstew. He also works out with Beason in the offseason.

we need help all over the defense I don't really care where it is. T. Davis isn't going to last long, The DTs are old, and while their is youth in the secondary their talent is questionable.
You mean if they don't restructure? Or do you mean just cut? Because Clausen can pack his bags...

Sherrod is a FA after this season, we can get rid of Naka.
Hell theres plenty of people to choose from.

It's not the roster spot I'm talking about. A FA like Byrd will cost $4-6 mill a year. Someone making actual money will have to be cut since we are over the 2013 cap. Gamble? DWill?

brought this up last night in the draft thread, he should be brought in. worth the money, bet he wants out of Buffalo.the cap can be played around with to allow room for guys to come in.the skins spend every year, but seem to have enough room.
I think we will trade Gamble in the off season. Too soft. Lost the fire. This is a youth movement.

Naturally whoever JR hires to be GM will be asked "what can you do to squeeze some cap room out of this colossal mess?"

That said, being able to sign any top tier FA's will be a long shot, but getting a saftey like Byrd would go a long way to fixing the deep pass protection issue the Panthers have.

Byrd is a good player. Would be a big upgrade for our struggling Safety position.

Need to draft a bad ass SS to go along with him
Why? I would rather have Godfrey then a rookie SS when we have other needs to fill
When the ball is in the air he can drape a hell of a blanket over receivers. However I've seen him get burn't, give up a 10 yard padding allowing no inviting the quick slant. He is also getting older and we are paying him a pretty penny. Great player. Wrong situation.

Because Godfrey isnt good. He's a liability in coverage. and hes eating up too much $ for his lack of production

IMO.

a couple restructures and a few extensions and we should be fine. Besides the only player that would save us money if we cut him would be Gamble and even then I don't think it saves us all that much.

We will be 10 mil under the cap by June 2nd. Don't worry about it.

I'd take Byrd in a heartbeat, then we could take top DT and WR in the draft.

LaRon > Byrdman
Hardly... LaRon may be a better tackler, but byrd is way better in coverage. And that's the most important part of being a FS.

Would the fact that Byrd spends time training with Stew and Beason be enough to bring him here...along with a gangster roll going into his pocket.....

Buffalo is miserable. I'd want to get the heck out of there...

Robert Lester could be that guy in the late second or early third round
