Playing too conservative with a marginal lead.

Could this come into play Sunday? I think so. The Broncos could very well be up by 10 in the 3rd quarter. If that happens, will Fox institute Fox ball and shut down the explosive offense for a more run the clock mode? Can we capitalize on that?

Smartest thing Elway did was put two offensive coordinators against Foxy.

Manning won't let him try and slow down the game.

In a magical world, this game would be where Rivera paints his masterpiece, works with McD'erm this week and re-creates that crazy ass D that the Falcons used to such great effect on MNF a month or so back.

His 2nd biggest weakness? Halftime adjustments....Jimmy Clausen inserted into the line up to start the 2nd half and crushes former coach.

In the past that's been true. But, he didn't pull it with the Saints last week. Peyton has a lot of control on Offense.

It comes down to two things:
  • How much John Fox wants to stick it to the Panthers' organization on the field (I really don't know - but I'm sure he does a little)
  • How much control Manning exerts over the offense and how much leeway he's allowed to prevent it.

We need Cam to be an absolute beast in the passing game if we want to beat Denver. Gotta make the tough pass...and we gotta catch it (Olsen)..

Denver is solid

I say we run the ball every play. Draw plays on 3rd and longs. Control the clock and keep the ball out of Peyton's hands. Out-fox Foxy.
Peyton will start to press and throw 4 picks. Fox's head will explode, spraying brains and Wrigley's spearmint gum everywhere.

When Elway brought in Manning, he also took any form of control over the offense away from Fox.

Panthers wins: We win if all three of these things happen

Cam's throws for less than 300 and no more than 28 passes.
Panthers run the ball effectively with the running backs
Panthers don't turn the ball over.

Panthers losses: We lose if any of these things happen
Cam throws for over 300 yards.
The only run game is Cam.
Panthers turn the ball over.

Fox's weakness is adjusting, and Rivera seems to have that issue too. If the defense continues to show up, and we get more pressure from the best front four in football, we can win this game. Also keeping peyton off the field will help.

i was going to say game time adjustments. tapping the brakes was the only adjustment that he ever made.

peyton is by far the smartest coach on that team. the only way to beat him is to put his stiff-necked head on a swivel. you've got to play fast and tight. i think at best all we can do with him is slow him down.

on offense, tho, chud just needs to change up things a couple times. let fox think he knows what to expect and then change things on him. he'll pretend and act as if it isn't happening. no adjustments. he does what he does well, but he'll only do it one way.

I think Manning's success and reputation overrides Fox's conservative tendencies.

John Fox comes to Carolina for revenge with Peyton Manning and a solid defense in tow against a 2-6 Panthers squad that beat a coachless Saints team and a Redskins team whose coach verbally admitted he's given up on the season.

I smell a Carolina blowout.

Fox: Peyton you run the team and get me a win. I'll be chilling on the sideline, maybe taking a snooze in the 3rd Q.
Manning: No problem coach. See you after the game.
