Apparently she had done this numerous times and the bus driver caught her on video.

Shena Hardin, 32, of Cleveland pleaded guilty to not stopping for a school bus and reckless operation. A Cleveland Municipal Court judge ordered her driver's license suspended for 30 days and for her to pay $250 in court costs, according to WJW Fox 8.

As part of the sentence, Hardin must also must wear a sign that reads, "Only an idiot would drive on the sidewalk to avoid the school bus" for an hour a day for two days next week at the intersection where the incident occurred, according to Fox 8.

Too harsh? Too light? What you think?


Since the judge is making her do it at the place where she passed the bus... it's kind of like a PSA and a punishment for her.

Someone like that should permanently lose the right privilege to drive. Not so much over the specific violation at hand but over the sense of entitlement and general stupidity that it takes to pull that crap.

People often forget the unusual part of cruel and unusual punishment. The judge has no authority to do this.

It's kind of borderline for me... I see the Judge's reason for doing it, but it's a slippery slope from making a woman hold a sign for an hour a day, to much more ridiculous and unconstitutional punishments.

A hefty fine and maybe license suspension would have had probably more effect on her. The sign thing is just an embarrassment... it is a slight deterrent for others, but only slight.

First off its not a right, its a privilege.

Secondly someone who drives with such little regard for the laws governing the operation of a motor vehicle is a danger to themselves and more importantly anyone else on or near the road.

It's not like she passed a bus at a bus stop...single instance. She repeatedly did this. PASSING on a sidewalk. She should lose her driving priveleges for longer than 30 days. Year maybe? This was over and above the normal "mistake".
