Starting to see an Identity...

34 posts in this topic

I think this thread topic is right on.

Our defense seems to be coming together....considering everything that has happened with

the d line and linebackers, in hindsite, we couldn't have expected what we have now in the

first few games.

I hope what's happening is that we're learning how to win. It's not a big deal to beat the skins,

but there is hope in how we did it. We won on the road, Cam didn't try to carry the team, we executed

all the way through the 4th quarter, and we didn't make too many mistakes/penalties.

If that keeps up, we can expect some more wins, and building on that momentum, change the culture.

Whether it was due to the Hurney firing (which it probably was)...or some other factor.....the past couple of weeks there has been a major attitude adjustment with this team. I've stated in some other threads but the emotion and intensity has been taken to another level. Its being reported guys are staying late to get more work in...showing up on off days to work...I mean this is what it takes in order to change the culture....

The DLine has been lights out in terms of getting after the QB...what 10+ sacks the past 2 weeks? Thomas Davis continues to lay lumber on opposing players...Kuechly has been the x factor in changing our defensive play...Norman talks the talk and walks the walk up to this point...hell even Rivera is finally not scared to cuss out Captain on the sideline....

Being that we are 2-6...I think the important thing the rest of the way is to build and to continue creating this identity because frankly there has been nothing up to this point but a bunch of soft trickery confusion offense...time to pop some fools in the chin...send some QB's flying into the crowd...Defense lead the way...all the way

I think job security will do that to you too :-) The axe fell on Hurney, and everyone is like "ok stop f**ing around". Whatever the reason though, I am loving it. Gentlemen, we have a defense...We're getting close to that 2002 defense

It's interesting how one win can completely change peoples attitudes toward the team. The days leading up to the Redsins game the attitude was as negative as towards every aspect of this team as I have ever seen. Now people aren't calling for every coaches head in every thread and instead of discussing the top draft pick are referring to playoff runs.

I think that is the definition of manic.

<raising hand> Guilty!!

I will try to do better, but I live vicariously through this team and to some extent, the Huddle.

On the other hand, I have been told I get along with others and I am good at multitasking but lack the necessary skills to progress to upper-level management. I have risen to the level of incompetence.

Yes, I am manic. :)

We have new leadership on the field with Beason and Gamble out.

I could see Gettis bringing some swag to the offense since he shares the same sort of bravado Cam does. That is as long as he's playing well.

The elder statesmen Beason and Gamble are out now, the other guys we have were never stars under Fox Anderson was a cut bubble guy, Johnson was 2nd team, Godfrey was.........well......Godfrey. TD wasn't part of 2-14. The new guys dont know that we are supposed to suck. Josh Norman may ask Manning what his name is, hell he may try to shove his face in the dirt like he did to RG . Luke Kuechly is a bully, a real A-male, ever since. becoming MLB he is holding guys accountable watch his body language when someone fugs up he is in direct communication with them and its not usually a pat on the back A for effort

I see an identity emerging on D. I haven't seen it yet on O.

With offense, it needs to start on the o-line. Who is going to be the CJ or GH on that side of the ball?

Its been a good week with a win but I still feel Rivera is a sub par coach.

this.

the offense will build an identity when cam newton is no longer used as the entire offense.

I think the D has been fairly good all season as compared to last, but in the past 3 weeks, has stepped up nicely. Funny that Gamble being gone and Beason being gone has not hurt at all, but in fact given guys like Norman and Keek the opportunity to shine. The D Line in the last couple weeks is showing up which makes everyone else better.

the Hurney thing is think is still a scapegoat, and the chief change I saw was the offensive playcalling.

less read option crap.
