Boehner and the House Republicans idea of compromise is when the Democrats get on board with everything they want and they concede nothing.

Their strategy for the last several years has been to prevent any progress at all and HOPE that America fails to proove what a bad President Obama is.
There were claims made that their priority 1 was to make Obama a 1 term president, not help the economy or create jobs or fix our infrastructure... simply C block the President.

It's treasonous and it didn't work.

America can't wait for a Republican president for these ass clowns to start working together, we need real solutions now.

Republicans wanted to go nuclear on judicial appointments ONLY=media and everyone in a crazy uproar

Democrats want to go nuclear on items that could include judicial appointments AND other items=media silent for the most part

Under "crock of the day"

It was kind of a crock because they President consistently conceded things to the Republicans that they asked for in order to get their support. They still obstructed.

The leadership within congress met days after the 2008 election and came up with a strategy of obstruction and no compromise. The reason they said is because they felt like "At worst we can say he is a promise breaker, because he said he would bring Democrats and Republicans together to get things done. If we refuse to cooperate we can say he broke his promise of bipartisanship and say he has had a dysfunctional administration that can't get things done"

As far as this tax article you posted it is Republicans saying the same thing a different way.

If you listen to what he said he said "They are open to new revenues as long as they are growth based revenues"

That is code for cutting taxes. It is the Republican theory that has been disproven that is you cut taxes the economy will grow so much that it will broaden the tax base and you will actually raise more revenue because more people are paying taxes.

Unfortunately, it isn't true.

Recently the Congressional Research Service did a study called ""Taxes and the Economy: An Economic Analysis of the Top Tax Rates Since 1945."

And their findings were basically this:

Analysis of six decades of data found that top tax rates "have had little association with saving, investment, or productivity growth." However, the study found that reductions of capital gains taxes and top marginal rate taxes have led to greater income inequality. Past studies cited in the report have suggested that a broad-based tax rate reduction can have "a small to modest, positive effect on economic growth" or "no effect on economic growth."

So what the Republicans are offering is "growth based revenues" that don't exist (in fact the CBO doesn't even consider it when they are scoring these things) and it is incredibly irresponsible with our current deficit and debt crisis. It would actually add to it instead of reduce it.

And it is exactly why I didn't vote for Mitt Romney because he would have destroyed our Federal Budget with these outdated and disproven ideas of imaginary growth from tax cuts.

Everyone remembers Reagans tax cuts

No one remembers Reagans tax increases that had to be done to keep his deficit spending from completely killing us, instead it only killed Bush I's second term

IT DOES NOT WORK get over it
