Keep in mind that Patraeus was scheduled to testify next week on Capitol Hill in hearings on the Benghazi attacks.

Now that he's resigned:

Following Petraeus's announcement, a spokeswoman for the committee said that the hearing is expected to proceed as scheduled, though the CIA director's immediate resignation will likely change the witness list. It's not immediately clear if the CIA will send a replacement witness to testify, though CIA Deputy Director Mike Morell, now acting director is reportedly in line for Petraeus's position.

You know and then there's this:

Breaking news on Benghazi: the CIA spokesman, presumably at the direction of CIA director David Petraeus, has put out this statement: "No one at any level in the CIA told anybody not to help those in need; claims to the contrary are simply inaccurate. ”

So who in the government did tell “anybody” not to help those in need? Someone decided not to send in military assets to help those Agency operators. Would the secretary of defense make such a decision on his own? No.

It would have been a presidential decision. There was presumably a rationale for such a decision. What was it? When and why—and based on whose counsel obtained in what meetings or conversations—did President Obama decide against sending in military assets to help the Americans in need?

Then we keep in mind the recent revelations that those killed and that embassy's "annex" were actually being used as a site for a secret CIA mission. Then, consequently, we have the CIA paying to suppress news coverage surrounding the attacks.......

But yeah, about that extramarital affair.......

Update:

A Senate Intelligence Committee spokesman tells Human Events that Morell will testify in Petraeus’s place at a closed-door hearing for that committee on Benghazi matters, also scheduled for Thursday.

Update:

Theodor Gilbert Morell (July 22, 1886 – May 26, 1948) was German Führer Adolf Hitler's personal physician.

Things are getting interesting.

Anybody who has served in the military will tell you that extramarital affairs are almost the norm for high ranking officers and enlisted personnel. I saw two Sergeant Majors and a Master Guns get burned for it; several officers got burned for it as well. There's nothing like going to Thailand and seeing 1/4th of your chain of command creeping in places they should not be. There is no conspiracy, and anybody who thinks this is outside the realm of possibility is stupid. On a side note, fug this guy anyway; he helped cover-up and falsify the circumstances of Pat Tillman's death.

I have very little doubt that Pataeus has had extramarital affairs. I also have very little doubt that it has very little to do with why he resigned.
