The scariest thing to me, besides seeing the ability of people to be herded by ideologues and lack of critical thinking skills into radical fatalist positions that benefit a political party, is the number of kids being brainwashed. none of the teary-faced kids in here are teary-faced because their cognitive analysis has formed their opinions; they are teary-faced because they've been heavily socialized to believe that OBOMBER is evil we are probably in the middle of the end days as described in the bible. their thoughts and actions will likely reflect this for the rest of their lives.
(of course that blind socialization applies to either side of the political aisle, but regardless this is a pretty poignant snapshot of the power of ideologues, association, and social processes. it should make you think.)

here's a scary example of how politicians can fuel massive social movement and mold belief systems based on the sincere religious convictions of massive amounts of people regardless of whether or not those values are reflected in the politician's party

Part of getting folks pumped up is the inevitable crash. One winner and one loser each time.

I think the evangelicals did not show up for Romney. Romney gets 3 million less votes than McCain.
my evidence is only anecdotal and therefore not necessarily an accurate reflection of demographic reality, but i've seen more southern evangelicals convinced that obama is allied with satan and MUST BE VOTED OUT AT ALL COSTS than in any other election in the past (granted we really only have three with current social media to get an accurate picture, and this is how much information is disseminated currently.)
the evangelical hype was unprecedented this year in my experience, and i'm willing to bet the polls reflect it, which does nothing but bolster the idea that they're sinking the republican party with 19th century paradigms that do not accurately reflect the shifting demographics and constituency of today's america.

To be fair, I have seen people on the losing end of every election crying like fools.
Part of getting folks pumped up is the inevitable crash. One winner and one loser each time.
True. But white people are still sooo stupid.
Like Bill O'Reilly said on Tuesday. "White America is now the minority. We are now a nation of people who want things." Meaning that there are two types of people in America, white people and the people who mooch off of white people.
That is what stupid people say,
Like Stephen Colbert said on his show on Wednesday in response to those comments, "Yeah! White people don't want things.... white people have things, and we know what to so with our things. We put it with our stuff"
