I still think Amini is going to be a really good player in this league. He was looking significantly improved until Kalil went out, and then the whole line took a step backward.

He and Bell don't worry me at all going forward. I'm just pissed that Marty thought Hangartner was gold because of the good ole days his first time here. Hangman sucked at RG, and he is now sucking at center. It's hard to believe there wasn't a vet out there that could have come in and helped hold down the RG spot, and/or one that could help us at center.

At least Amini has the excuse of youth and lack of experience. Maybe Byers will even be okay as a backup in a couple of years. Hangartner has no excuse; there is no upside there.

What everyone needs to remember is that Amini has played well in some games too. Then he's played bad like today.

Also, that Dline of the Broncos is young and fast. I mean quick.

I'll give him the benefit of the doubt due to him being a rookie.

From what Rivera said at the time in pressers it seemed like Amini was a Chud pick. He talked about walking in on the offensive coaches watching film of players and saying "Man we need a guy like that" when he saw Amini. It's why they took him over the other guy (forget his name) that people were high on in the 2nd.

I remember the same story, but I believe it was Marty that brought him to Ron's attention.

Not ready to give up on him yet. One thing he was good at was pulling and setting down field blocks. However we rarely run plays like that in the run game(heck we don't run enough period). He struggles at times in the pass game though.

He stinks now but I think with the right coaching he can become a competent player. Bell I'm not so sure about.

I thought it was pretty stupid we took someone from a Division II school in the second round, tbh. Can't say I'm really surprised how he's been playing, hopefully he'll pick it up in year 2.

Amini is fine, he's played well at times...and had days like today. Great value in the second round.

Kalil being back next year will help a lot. Moving Bell to gaurd next year will help a lot. Drafting Joeckel will help a lot. I'm hoping Amini will develop into a beast. As for Gross yeah I think he is pretty much done. Wouldn't be surprised if he retired

Dude has been standing around looking for someone to block.. He doesn't belong in the NFL he belongs in the SEC..until he figures out how to play football. He came in as an instant starter and now we are lacking in protection.

We have the same problem with Amini as with DWill and Stew, namely, a major disconnect between Marty and the coaches.

Amini is first and foremost a road grader type run blocker. That's not what we do. We pass the ball out of the shotgun. If we ran the ball more, Amini would suddenly start to look a lot better. He still has a lot of work to do to be a competent pass blocker.

Marty continued to draft and sign players for Foxball, while Chud has never seen a running play he liked deep down inside.

I believe Rivera specifically said he had that conversation with Hurney and Hurney was the one who pointed him out to Ron.

The guy is a rookie, he has played well at times not so well at other times. Had we picked some other player, its likely the same would still be true.

His play has gotten worse after loosing a pro bowl Center next to him.

You know what, whether it was Hurney or Rivera who ultimately lead us to picking this guy, whoever it was wanted to be viewed as a genius! They wanted to be viewed as a person who could find talent anywhere, even in a school no one has ever heard of. Well, that has backfired considerably. It actually was a pre-cursor to Chud's "genius" of the read option offense.
