yep.Gonna go ahead and say Rivera's lack of skills as a HC are what is killing us.
who he has in his doghouse has a nominal effect on the outcome of the games or the overall record.

Seriously, think about it.
Instead of putting in Sherrod Martin, who is obviously a better player than Nakamura, he continuously goes with Nakamura in his Martin's place, because Martin had a bad season last year.
Joe Adams is in the same boat. The guy is a rookie, and he fumbled twice in one game. Instead, you put in Armanti to return kicks and Captain (who has to be exhausted after playing his ass off on defense) to return punts when he obviously isn't a natural punt returner.
What about Gettis today? Sure, I think that Gettis probably has some rust on him. But, Gettis goes out for a play, then comes back to sideline and gets yelled at.

Nakamura starting over Martin bothered me more than any other lineup decision. No fan deserves to be punished with Naka's terrible play. He's screws up just like Martin, but without any of his physical talent.
I'd have AE returning kicks over Adams all day. AE understands that our STs is terrible and he knows what to do, get the fvck up field, north and south, make your one cut and get what you can. Adams still thinks he's in college and has time to make several moves and do a dance. Sure if we had amazing blocking, then you could try your prime time stuff, but this team eats. Poor Captain is wearing down.
How about less yelling at Gettis and more yelling at Cam and our O-line? The actual reason we're losing.

I think Martin does a much better job against Roddy White than Naka, if only for the first play of their game winning drive. That was a punt pass that should at the very least been knocked down. Martin makes that play easily.
So, you're satisfied with Armanti, Pilares and Munnerlyn at returns? I think Holliday and Hester showed us the importance of having a legitimate threat at returner can do for you. Holliday ran one back, but Hester gave Chicago great field position all day while barely touching the ball.
And I don't care how you spin it, Gettis is a major upgrade over Murphy. I think he forces defenses to at least account for him because of his speed. That will allow more one on one coverages for Smitty. And the more of that you see, the better chance this team has of winning.
But maybe you're right. maybe we don't win any more games. But at the very least, we develop talent that can contribute in the near future in positions of need.

Question: when Hester and Holliday are on the field making returns are they the only guys on the field? Let me guess, you hadn't thought about the fact that special teams play is a team thing-- multiple guys on the field making blocks and executing a plan.
Another question: When was the last time you saw Gettis play? As poor as the team has played do you think the coaches are keeping Gettis out to be stubborn or because they don't get it like you do? My guess is that he'll be in when he is ready and that means physically, as well as up to speed with the offense--- what there is of it.

So yes ST is hurting, the point being made is Pilaris has a better return avg on K's in the last 2 seasons since taking over than AE does in 3 seasons. and even Captain is doing better than AE in P's which really is not saying much. Just sick of people trying to put AE on a pedestal like he’s the second coming of Deion Sanders.
AS far as gettis, I agree. I want to see him back as much as the next person. Maybe hes an upgrade maybe hes not, but dont risk putting him out there if hes not 100% and if hes not up to par with the lack offense.
