BBQ is correct... I'll be 40 in March and time noticeably passes faster now, much faster than when I was younger. I personally think that the effect is just your brain tuning out poo that doesn't matter anymore as you age.

I go to work on Monday and wake up and it's Friday now... it's almost surreal. Weeks literally pass for me now like days used to...

Yup. I turned 40 in June & agree. Only thing I would add is there's also a bit of shock when you have one of those "holy poo! I used to do this all fugging day!" moments. I busted 4 cords of wood last week & felt like i got hit by a truck.

Haven't really had one of those mainly because I workout way more now than I did when I was younger... my deal (and Zod and I mentioned this last week) now is getting hurt... man if I get hurt now, it takes for-freaking-ever to get better...

A old farmer explained it to me in a depressing way.

When you are 5 each year = 1/5 of your entire life.


When you are 50 each year = 1/50th of your entire life.


Thus the older you get, the less time a year will account for, so it seems to be shorter than when a year held greater meaning.

Too late for me, haha. Ive already been working dilligently on minimizing and creating a much simpler life. Because of this I dont even have $500 to my name at the moment, haha. Its pretty awesome. I'm not too concerned with money these days...only enough to where I can cover my [minimal] needs.

Of course...I would agree with that 100%. But that doesn't discount the concept, and if anything, serves as further evidence of it.

Thats an interesting concept. Not sure if it would explain how ridiculously fast this year has gone by though...especially compared to 2011. I believe time has been continuously speeding up over the centuries, and eventually it will reach that level of critical mass where the "past," "present," and "future" essentially blend in to each other. Time will start to go by so fast (as happening now) that it will all converge in on itself when all is said and done. When you get into the idea that there is really no such thing as linear time, with past present and future being no more than illusionary perceptions of the indefinitely continuous now...it starts to make a little bit more sense. But hey, thats just me

Because I differentiate between respect and agreement.

I don't have to agree with it, but if that's what gives someone a sense of stability and contributes to them being a productive, responsible person, then I respect it.
