I am convinced Charlotte is only about 20% Panther fans

Has nothing to do with the fact that there are actually Broncos fans in Charlotte or that Charlotte lacks Panthers fans. It's all about the win-loss record. In 2008 when we were one of the best teams in the league and the Broncos were one of the worst there were zero Broncos fans in Charlotte when we blew them out. That's just the way it is. When teams are winning fans will be at away games. When teams are losing there won't be as many. If the Steelers were 0-8 hardly any of their fans would be at a game in Charlotte to watch the Steelers play the Panthers if we were 8-0 at the same time.

It's bandwagon and fairweather BS which is 90% of the NFL fanbase.

Funny, nearly all of the PSL owners around me whom I've known for years were at the game yesterday in Manning jerseys (Colts and Broncos)...

....hell, the people who run one of the leased parking lots- you know the ones that charge $15 to park on Morehead- has seats in front of me for about 10 years now... all with Manning jerseys yesterday...

I always find it funny when the media talk about how certain teams' fans travel well, something I once believed. Yet after working in a grocery store, I've found most of my coworkers liked other teams. Namely the Steelers and Cowboys. (And one lonely Ram fan) So it's not that they travel well, but people here are fans of those teams.

When Broncos fans start taking over the stadium, you have a problem...

Transplants has a lot to do with it. For example, I live in NYC now. Do I cheer for the Jets or Giants now? Nope. I'm a Panthers fan. I was going to give the Jets a go, as they are in the AFC, but they suck, so why bother. Same exact thing is happening in Charlotte. Just because they move there doesn't mean they need to switch. And they definitely won't switch for an inferior product.

I haven't been to a Panthers game since the AZ debacle and won't return until they prove to me that I will show up and see a team worth seeing in person.

Winning cures all ills. It's that simple.

Your logic doesn't really make sense.... all you need do is turn it around now that you don't live here and the Panthers suck, yo have free rein to pull for any team you want.

I'm a believer that you support your local team, just as you support your local businesses. I was a lifelong Raider fan until I moved to NC and 18 months later announced an NFL franchise was on the way, and that was before the Raiders went into the toilet so it's not like I was dumping a crappy team.

Most of the people where I live are Redskin fans because "they were the only team around..." But Charlotte is 2.5 hours away and DC is about 4.5 hours, so why not switch? Both teams suck hugely, but one is closer than the other.
