Our Offense is too concerned with "take what the defense gives you". They are giving it to you for a reason, namely, you suck at it.

The offense needs to find an identity and impose their will on the defense.

You've gotta play Newton.

I'd fired Chud, promote Shula, run a bland pro-style offense and force Cam to learn how to manage at the line and make adjustments. Even if it turns out Clausen-esque results, at least Cam can learn how to run an NFL offense.

Let's say you're the Panthers head coach right now.

(insert joke here)

You see what everyone else sees. Specifically, that your star quarterback is getting killed behind a terrible offensive line right now. You remember what happened to David Carr in a similar situation, and you don't want to see your quarterback ruined like he was. It occurs to you that maybe the best thing you can do for him is to bench him, save him from the beating he's taking, let him learn from the sidelines for the remainder of this season and start fresh next year.

But then, reality sets in. Your job is on the line. In order to keep it, you need to win games. That means putting the guy who gives you the best chance to win on the field, and that's your starter.

What do you do?

Actually, I think Anderson gives us the better chance to win. He knows how to run Chud's crappy offense, and we will not see any read option plays with him in there. I would definitely start Anderson, and let Cam learn. Who knows, Anderson may show a spark, the guy did have a probowl season not too long ago. He's looked good in preseason, and he's not too old. I don't know why everyone is acting like Anderson is the worst thing since Ryan Leaf.

Honestly, I would have a long off the record conversation with some of my highest profile players. One at a time.

I would want to know what's being said in the locker room.

I would start with players that have been here for a while like Gamble, and Gross and work my way around to the newer guys.

Me and Mr. Newton would be spending a TON of time together and I would probably call Weinke to get his ass up there ASAP to help out.

I would not bench Newton unless he showed signs of quitting, mutiny, or disrespect.

Why continue to play Newton when he has shown he's yet to master some of the essentials of quarterbacking? Things like pocket presence and so on. Sit the young guy down and protect him. Let him learn, and if he had any problem with that (ie blaming his benching on everyone instead of looking at it as a wake-up call), then that attitude will tell me everything I need to know about him. I was mad they didn't put Anderson in late against the Broncos.

You keep starting Cam because he's your starter. He's not as soft as Clausen and Cam won't learn a damn thing watching from the sideline.

A lot of people are visual learners. Cam could be one of those. Sitting him down could be the best thing that ever happened to him. To continue taking this beating from everyone will only break him further.

At the moment, I'm worried as much or more about his brain than his body.

Playing behind a poor OL is reinforcing bad habits and messing with his head.

there is only one solution I know of and its quite simple. . .

You inspire men to be the men they're supposed to be and become the leader that this team needs right now.

Harping on missed calls like that illegal block to the back (on Senn?) on the Holiday return will only invoke fear in your team that now the refs are against you too. Pick your head up, put foot to ass and motivate our men. Crossed arms and soft spoken words of encouragement doesnt get it done against the best of the best.

I was thinking something like this, except with a more passionate tone.

edit: any of you military guys want to comment? When youre facing an L shaped ambush and you think you might be fugged, there is one course of action. . . . Lock n load and attack straight up the gut as hard and fast as you can.
