Calm down about Cam

43 posts in this topic

Right now Cam is a sub par QB playing behind a god awful line.

There were plenty of times Cam was pressured only because he held the ball way too long.

Yeah that is probably a good way of describing it. However he is still showing signs that he is VERY good when things are right and what he is struggling with will come with experience. At the start of the year he couldn't complete passes even when he had time. He has most definitely improved and when he has time is playing better than he did last year. When he doesn't not so much...

I havent seen Cam call out protections, identify the blitzer or anything like that at all this year. What is the reason for that? Is it just that he is too dumb...or is it something the coaches just dont allow. And how about an audible every once and a while?

Any QB in the league can make the passes when there isn't pressure and the wideout is wide open. Unfortunately, those plays are rare in this league. Good QB's make the passes when there is pressure and when there is less room to put the pass.

Manning had plenty of pressure yesterday, he just knows how to move in the pocket and throw off his front foot.

I love the whole Cam isn't playing bad because x,y, or z is also playing bad argument.

No he didnt. Manning rarely was pressured. Same for Russell Wilson earlier this year, same for Eli, same for Josh Freeman, same for Romo. Its been a constant theme for QBs this season.

How many of those pressure were do to Cam holding on to the ball too long, missing his reads, or not calling the right protections?

When he held the ball too long, how often did our receivers fail to get open. More than once did the replays show that he had absolutely no where to throw.

Yes, obviously some where down to him and yes he needs to learn to read pressure and know where to go per-snap, but again that is experience. Remember, Cam hasn't had a huge number of years under his belt to learn this unlike other QBs.

Manning was constantly stepping up in the pocket to avoid a defender. Just because he knows hot to elude the pressure, doesn't mean there was none.

Manning at least had a pocket. Why no mention of those other guys? DIdn't Russell Wilson have a career high in yardage and percentage against this D?

Come KT,,,, Come On... Now I know you watched the game... It was Mannings feet and quick releases that kept him out of trouble, because we were getting to him, only problem was he got away or the ball out so fast it did not matter.... I mean you had to look at the guy feet work in the pocket yesterday and remember why he is one of the best.

Manning was pressured a lot. He just has a sixth sense and steps up into a small opening and makes the throw he needs to.
