if this is true, that is a red flag. He does not have to put on an act, he just needs to act like a professional QB. If he has to "act" to try to do this, then he might be in the wrong profession.Kinda odd how Cam has now put on a "act" because the media went on a rampage about them. He certainly does pay attention what the medis says.
Is Cam afraid to be a leader because of how the media might react?

This is honestly one of the easiest things that a QB can do...be a cheerleader in a way..Petyon is great at it, Brady, Rodgers, Ben...they all do it every single game. Cam sits on his own end of the bench and maybe its the TV coverage but I rarely see him "rallying the troops." IMO it is the single most disappointing thing about Cam Newton as a QB. Quite frankly....it pisses me off that he thinks he doesn't need to do it.
I will say this though..I think it's a product of the Rivera culture. If any QB around the league needs the mentorship of a guy like John Gruden or Bill Cowher it is this guy. He has GOT to have someone in that locker room shake him and make him realize that being a QB is not just about being a great talent. If he doesn't change it he will become the next Michael Vick and will never win anything of substance...and unfortunately we'll ride him to the ground.

Exactly X10
Of course you agree madhatter, you haven't trusted Cam since day one. One of the many who spewed hate of the thought of even drafting him.
Sit down.

good post.Being a leader is more than chewing out an underperforming unit. It's looking at film on the bench, it's rallying the team when we're down, it's going over and patting every single offensive linemen when they have a great drive. I've seen none of that out of Newton. So until he does stuff like that...he doesn't deserve to chew anyone out.

Don't hate Cam....and don't want to make a move away from him being the starter. I can just see and accept that the poor performance of the offensive unit is the result if poor play as well as poor coaching. And that poor play DOES include Cam....as well as the OL and the WR's.
Those that continuously make excuses for Jim are laughable.
He is young...he isimmature...he has a lot to work on. And, I absolutely hope and expect him to improve on all of his weaknesses and become that franchise QB that he can definitely be.
The rest if you are just being blind to the reality of the situation. But hey, it is always easier to blame others.

even if it lit a fire and the team performed better?I've seen Peyton chew his O line out several times even threw them under the bus in a presser. As for "The Drive" both those guys said they would love to see Cam yell at the line but i agree the media would eat him up for that

I never spewed hate for Cam. I questioned his ability to translate to an NFL QB because of the many things we never saw from him in college...mainly because he was never asked to do them. He is an athletic freak and has unlimited upside. I also hope that he comes close to that upside....where as posters like you think he already has and everyone else is keeping him down.

Nope, I truely believe Cam just doesnt have that leadership gene. When you look at how Peyton Manning talks, goes over plays on the sidelines with his teammates, its clear as crystal we dont have a leader at QB. Cam is like me when playing Madden, a rage quitter when he gets behind by 14 or more points, Cam is a mental rage quitter.
I think you're a mental midget. Don't compare yourself to Cam. Couch potatoes can't compare themselves to him

bullshit. You know better than that. Guys like Rodgers and Brady can get away with it. Not Cam.
Win a Super Bowl and you can pretty much do whatever you want.

For instance if Cam had yelled to his line to get their poo together and protect him, ESPN and shitty radio shows like 'The Drive' would have exploded. A lot of you would have called him arrogant, self centered, etc. Cam is in a no win situation, if he just sits on the bench/bike and observes he's a guy who "quit" if he yells at his line/teammates then he's "arrogant".
this is just me but, I really don't care what my QB's relationship is with the media, period.
Cam does not have to be a leader of this TEAM at this time but, he HAS to be a leader on the
offense because he is the QB and is calling the plays. He has to take a leadership role with HIS
offense and that involves instructing other players on that unit.
I long for the day when my QB does something on the sideline other than cover his head with a towel
and stare at the ground. That's when I will know my young QB has arrived.
