This is going to be one long long ass offseason...

...considering it started January 10, 2009.

Deangelo probably being gone and Stewart hasn't done jack poo this season an Tolbert is useless. I hate to say this with all the money we've spent on running backs I think we need to acquire someone to share some carries with Stewart next seasons.

Tauren Poole and Armond Smith could be the depth we need if Dwill goes.

In the link above the OP mentioned that LaFell said Armond Smith was one of the fastest players on the team.

So I think we could have depth at RB if needed. We just need a Oline that could open up holes for them to get through.

Not trying to be funny, but the problem with our run game pretty much falls squarely on questionable play calling in my opinion. Neither back gets the ball enough to really get into the flow of the game and run away with it. Moreover, as has been mentioned, we have guys that appear to have some surprisingly good upside on the practice squad. If not this year because of Crud, err Chud, our running game will flourish once again next year.

Hell, I'd argue we have TOO MANY RBs at this point for what we're trying to do (or, at least, too much money tied up in them). Tolbert is useless, save for some screens/run blocking from the FB position and the occasional goal line run. However, Stew can do the goal line running. Williams hasn't really done ANYTHING except for catching the pitch on the edge. Not really his fault, he and Stew are both struggling due to the OL. However, moving forward, either Williams has to restructure or he has to go. We need cap space and he is taking a HUGE chunk of it and he's not playing worth the money we're paying him (again, may not be his fault due to the OL, but it is truth either way).

hurney put the cart before the horse and drastically over-invested in running backs and vastly under-invested in the offensive line.

end of story.
