So when can we start spending money on healthcare like Canada. Because they pay a LOT less per capita

Oh thats right, our system is still not remotely similar to Canada's

And why they come here for operations and quickly needed care.

Are you arguing that we spend money on healthcare more effectively than other countries with universal healthcare? Because we dont

some people won't get it even with it all crashing down around them. when you run out of everyone else's money and can't confiscate it from those who have fled, the hard reality will hit you regardless of how much you wish it away.

Because the US "subsidizes" the world's drug R&D costs.

True, but why are drug companies able to spend so much on R&D?

The healthcare industry is designed to boost drug companies profits

Whats not to get? I'm saying, lets try to copy what other countries who spend less than we do on healthcare do. I want to spend LESS money.

But oh no, I'm a liberal so clearly all I want to do is spend lots and lots of everyone elses money

Posted Image

Yeah clearly the US is just that much better than the rest of the world at healthcare, look at how much bigger our bar is!

I wonder how much of our higher costs can be attributed to the U.S. having a disgusting fat society. Probably a lot.

trying to curb it by banning trans fats and reducing soda sizes is communism though.

I'm sure it costs us a whole lot. Plenty of things the government could do to improve things too, but nothing will get done I'm sure. Improving public health should without a doubt be a bipartisan effort, but politics is so polarized these days that Michelle Obama encouraging kids to eat vegetables gets ridiculed.

BTW when I talk about things the government could do to improve public health, I'm not talking about banning trans-fats or giant slurpees. I'm talking about the farm bill- the thing that makes no sense from either party's perspective yet never gets changed
