Ask for 250 million and hope to get 125. I'm sure this will be the thinking.

It could just all be part of how these types of negotiations go....posturing by both sides

It's obvious that's what it is but it will get uglier than I anticipated it would. Fortunately Charlotte leaders realize that losing an NFL team would send the city back to the pre-80's southern red brick days.

i wish he would put some of that money into hiring the best coaching staff and FO money can buy.

putting a better product on the field is the best upgrade that stadium could have and would go the furtherest towards filling up the stands with panther fans.

So you can check on your fantasy team, and twitter about the game and facebook your friends; everything but actually watch the game.

Kind of like what people do at work

Give me two winning seasons in a row and I will vote for any bond measure.

What could they possibly do if the cost is going to be "well in excess" of $250 million? That's like building an entire new stadium. Are they looking to completely renovate the entire thing?

Probably going to also include some parking plan, because they are going to have to address that as the city is quickly using up all available surface lots for other projects.

$250M is peanuts for this sort of thing. Chicago Bears stadium upgrades were like $600M although thet was a bigger project.

Cal Bears renovated their stadium for $321M. Here is what they got:

  • Modernized fan amenities, including wider concourses and additional restrooms and concession areas on the west side
  • New wheelchair seating with better accessibility and access around the stadium
  • Restoration of the historic façade, including repairing damaged concrete and application of a new finish to match the original 1923 appearance
  • Modernized public address and lighting system
  • Restored flagpoles atop the stadium rim
  • State-of-the art scoreboards with enhanced video and graphics capabilities within the existing structures at the north and south ends of the stadium
  • Endowment Seating Program area (approximately 3,000 seats) that includes chair-back seating and access to three club levels (Field Club, Stadium Club and University Club)
  • Benches with backs and additional legroom in sections from the goal line to the 30-yard line on the west side
  • Old wooden seating replaced with aluminum bleachers throughout the stadium
  • Playing surface lowered approximately four feet to improve sightlines for fans seated in lower rows
