Sorry for your loss, you did the right thing by your dog even though you might question yourself. Don't run out to replace the dog too soon, you will just be disappointed that the new one isn't the old one. Move on when you are ready, and cherish the memories you have,

sorry to hear man, I know the love an akita can give its companion especially after having gone through this 3 times with 3 akitas.

Man, sorry to hear.
<----This guy is getting closer and closer every day. He has really gone downhill in the last 60 days.
He will be 11 in Jan. and I have had him since he as 6 weeks old.

My folks said they're not going to get another dog but my family loves animals and I'd be willing to bet they have another one by this time next year.
We're all pretty heartbroken right now but I think an older rescue would be a good fit for my parents.

Moxy was my baby. She was born only 6 days after I was born and she passed away on Halloween in 2003. She was the best dog ever. You never get over a best friend like that.

Life goes on man. Adopted a 1 year old rescue last year. We actually got her from North Carolina. The owner left her and 3 other dogs locked up in his SUV eating and shitting in there. She is the best dog now. Pitbull, Pointer, Lab mix. Her name is Kairi.

We just went through the same thing a few months back. Doesn't matter how many years old, it's always too early.
I feel for ya. Hang in there.
