rippadonn 946 Report post Posted November 20, 2012 What do Cam Newton and John Gruden have in common?........They're both icons and entertainers! The combined swagger of Gruden and Newton would be off the charts and everybody in the NFL would totally hate us. Gruden would love to crush Tampa Bay and New Orleans twice a year. I don't want a college coach or the next thing assistant. We need a guy with head coaching experience to be the leader of this team. Is Gruden that guy? I don't know, but the media here would be ridiculous if Gruden and Cam were united. Say what you want about Chucky but he has been successful and may just be the type of icon entertainer coach Cam may need. There is no doubt he has helped QB's. He a good offensive mind who knows what Smitty and DeAngelo can do firsthand and has confessed his love for both men. He would immediately control the locker room before stepping foot into the place. Is Chucky better than Rivera? ...OK, how about John Fox?.. I don't know if John Gruden would be a success here but I know it would be iconic and entertaining if it all went down and ESPN would be all over it. I wouldn't totally dismiss the notion. This young team needs a real head coach.
Zod 14,969 Report post Posted November 20, 2012 You might give him a little credit. A little maybe. The rest goes to Monte Kiffin.
rayzor 13,169 Report post Posted November 20, 2012 A little maybe. The rest goes to Monte Kiffin. they wouldn't have gone to the superbowl or been nearly as successful without kiffin. gruden made a bad offense less bad.
csx 8,007 Report post Posted November 20, 2012 The QB situation in Tampa under Gruden was a consistent mess. I don't know how you could overlook that. If you had to pinpoint a reason for Gruden's departure it would be his inability to develop a QB.
Bwood 190 Report post Posted November 20, 2012 Gruden honestly wouldn't be a bad option. We would totally turn into the NY Jets 2.0 with him and cam, though. I really want a young, furry offensive minded college coach if I had a choice.

The one young QB Gruden probably thought would work long term, well the Panthers removed his spleen. ;-) The Bucs went 11-5 with Chris Simms as QB. He actually made the PLayoffs again with Jeff Garcia, lol.
