RR said Richardson didn't offer him any guarantees, but said "I know that nothing is going to happen until after the season."

Rivera needs a reality check.
How much more blunt about it could he possibly be?

Rivera's right though. He will find a new gig really quick as a DC. He's one hell of a DC.
Yeah, he'll be something like Wade Phillips, which isn't that bad IMO.

people won't like it because we want change and we want it yesterday...but it just makes too much sense given the big picture to keep rivera until the end of the season and then make the move for a new HC, AFTER we've hired a new GM.

Did he really say that? Goodness.I'll be all right," Rivera said. "No matter what happens, I'll be OK. Whether I'm here next year or not, I will be A-OK. I will go forward. I will make things happen. I will do things. Whether it's here or somewhere else, I will. I believe in who I am and firmly believe in my abilities as a coach."

Has that ever happened in the NFL? Because I secretly share your secret desires...I secretly wish he would stay here as the DC and build in the promising defense.
Won't happen, but would be great if it did.
