no reason to salvage the season

the simple point is that there is no way we go to the playoffs, if we win out, the most we get is some media coverage. big deal.
wost case, 5 of our best players get hurt severely and are out for part of next season. what happens is TD blows that knee out again, after we are 2-10.. what was the point? when we can save him for next year.
think about it a different way, it looks like the top WR will be a 2/3 pick this season. We can win out, and pick 12-15th and maybe get the 2nd or 3rd wr, OR we can have a number 1 QB throwing to a #1 WR. on top of that, a couple of really good o line guys are predicted to go early in the second. and the rookies are cheap.
and if you think we should go d line (not only are you wrong) but the best will still be a top 5 pick...
While it may not be in any induviuals best intereste as far as stats or performance bonuses go, it IS in the best interest of the team, both short and long term to lose out. thats just a fact.

no good can come from losing out or giving up. horribly bad idea. most of these guys still have fight in them. continuing to lose only takes that away.
no draft pick in the '13 is worth losing out over unless we're wanting to replace newton (which isn't the case).
we may finish with 3-4 wins anyway, but the team should continue to fight.
the moment this team becomes content with losing or feels it is acceptable in any season is the time i go find another team to cheer for.
its just not worth it.

This team needs to continue to push as hard as they can to win. If they lose they lose but it had better damn well not be for lack of effort. That mentality is infectious and we already have a culture of losing around here. Tanking anything would just make it worse.

TD being sat for like the last 2 games. I kinda think that
I kind of agree.
What he has done this year has been nothing short of miraculous and he would never take himself out. Him taking the rest of this throw-away season off and resting that knee sounds like it would be beneficial, however none of us will really ever know. It may be possible that by him playing, the knee is continuing to get stronger.
If TD feels it is in his best interest for his future here to sit the remainder of the games, he's earned it. if he feels that he is playing no matter what; he's earned that as well.

and it's much more important for the new regime to know who's going to fight when the obstacles in their way seem impossible and who's half-assing it. they also need to see who has the talent to keep around and who needs to be sent on their way.Going into next season having figured out how to win a few in a row is MUCH more important to this team than moving up from the #5 to the #1 pick.
this team may be going down, but it needs to go down swinging.
