Can he play Safety?

Must say, I'm a little surprised by this move. The dude has hit from 59 though, which is good because the way our O is playing, going Raiders/Janikowski style and putting up 21 with 7 50+ yard FGs might be the only way we get a victory.

Inconsistent our not, Gano's our kicker now so he's got my full support.

Meh. I preferred Medlock over Mare, but the reality is I would have liked a puddle of liquid poo more than Mare. Medlock wasn't much better than a puddle of liquid poo...

Losing one of the best Kickers in NFL history definitely hurt.

Imagine what this team is going to look like without Smith, just be ready for a similar situation as our kicking game.

Ironically, I just changed my sig last night, rescinding his adoption.

Beane and Rivera probably saw that and decided they might as well cut him rather than keep an orphan around.

This was your doing?! You voodoo'd Medlock! LOL.

You should pick up Gano. Maybe he will be better. Who knows.

Also, this shows that interim GM Beane has got more balls than Hurney. If Beane was GM last season, Mare would've been gone after the avikings game.

I wonder what they saw at Kaeding's workout to convince them to go with Gano instead. Well, hope he does well. It can't be any worse.

Kaeding would be a free agent again after this year, Gano was available for a 2 year contract. Probly why.

This thread is another prime example of a horrible player being replaced by a horrible player, but the Huddle gets behind said second horrible player because they hate the first horrible player so damn much. Read: Mare/Medlock, Clausen/Moore.

People saying Medlock suck have no clue wtf they are talking about. Out of his 3 misses, 1 was blocked and 1 was from 50 yards. So really he only had 1 bad miss which was around 40. Not enough to justify cutting him right now.

I said it before and I will say it again. Rivera does everything as a knee jerk reaction. In many of his press conferences, he praised medlock and referred to him a young kicker. And now, does a fuging 180, and throws him under the bus, runs over him, then backs up and runs over him again. This is absolutly pathetic.

He missed badly against the Broncos also. Medlock struggled in preseason too. He may develop I don't know. Kickers generally aren't given a lot time to develop in the NFL. Cutting him and signing Gano doesn't seem like a move that improves our team. We shall see.
