ring of honor would be fine and appropriate. beyond that....meh....I think Kasay is a future ring of honor inductee as much for the way he carried himself during his long tenure as a Panther as anything else... classy guy and a pretty good kicker.
If you were evaluating Mills simply by his on-field performance in a Panthers uniform you could ask why he's a ROH inductee and has a statue outside the stadium.
You can knock Kasay for kicking the ball out of bounds during the SB, but we wouldn't have been there in the first place if he hadn't nailed a few clutch kicks that season.
Gano to wear #4

i honestly don't think that more than 80% of the fanbase even remember what kasay's number was. only the most rabid of fans would care at all.If nothing else this is a bad PR move... you've already got a pretty disgruntled fan base and now you're gonna slap a #4 jersey on a sub-par kickers back.
this is nothing more than a blip that will be forgotten by all but a handful of fans by the offseason and most of them won't even care.

he was good enough to keep his job for 20 years or whatever. as he got older he was less accurate and more of a liability and the main reason he was kept around wasn't because he was so good...it was because he was so liked.
we should have replaced him before we did. we just picked the wrong guys to replace him with.
First 5 seasons: 78.8%, 82.2%, 84.6%, 73.1%, 88%
Last 5 seasons: 88.9%, 85.7%, 90.3%, 81.5%, 86.2%
How is that getting less accurate?

i'm only taking part in this thread because it's always funny to see just how revered a kicker is around here.

lol i don't even care. you know why? because he's a KICKER.

He's more than a kicker, rayzor. He was an original Panther, he was part of the community and the city. Sam Mills, on the other hand, was only a Panthers player for three seasons. Yet he got a statue. Cancer is a bitch, but that man is a Saint. Kasay is a Panther.

IDK, I sit in the stadium and hear people calling for Kasay all around me every time our kicker screws up... now you're going to trot this guy out there wearing the # 4 with everything else going on this season? LOL
Sounds like a bad idea.
