Why would he "give up" being a captain. Our captains are voted by our players to be their leaders. It doesn't mean poo who we as fans like or think should be a leader. The people in the locker room know whats best and who really does what. Gross saying no being a captain for Cam would be a smack in the face to his team mates.

Most of the players are complacent and lazy and electing a competitive guy like Cam as a leader would force them to up their game. They prefer the status quo.

Maybe it is just me but first and second year players have not done enough to earn being a captain. You can be a leader without being a captain. A man who has been a marine for 2 years should not be a general but he certainly can be one hell of a leader.
