What Happens if DeAngelo Williams is Cut or Traded?

JR knows he is going to have pusses off fans no matter what decisions he makes. He is a Davy businessman and knows that they need to make unpopular decisions right now. He knows that the only thing that will make fans happy is winning. Thus, he will make the decisions that are the best LT for the team.

sorry, but wow, that autocorrect is killing you.

lol

anyways...i think he can have a winning team put together quickly. the biggest thing is to have his pocketbook opened up to hire the best GM and HC possible and not be narrow-minded in his approach, which hopefully his hiring an outside consultant is a sign that he no longer trusts his approach and is willing to yield to the mind of an expert. just hoping.

i've said all along that after they've made some room on the cap (which i don't think is as hard as people make it out to be if you hire the right guy) they should seek to balance out the team experience-wise and fill holes with vets, either acquired through FA or via trading away draft picks (not the first couple rounds, btw) and then going straight BPA (of course don't be stupid and draft a QB or MLB because he's the BPA or something dumb like that).

proper coaching, though, will add several more wins to this team. imo, those close games that we lost could have been won had they been coached better. close games won or lost in are usually the result of coaching.

All very valid points.

It still won't surprise me to see them take some major ST lumps after this year. But, I am just speculating. So, there is no telling what direction we go.

It will be an interesting offseason to say the least.

If I recall correctly, Poole got cut and Smith made it to the PS. I like them both, though. Poole a bit more. Both looked (in preseason admittedly) to be more than capable backups.

Yea, both looked talented and capable. I thought Poole was placed on I.R.?

I can see a possibility of Deangelo Williams being traded, but there is no way in hell he will be cut next year. It would make no sense whatsoever. It would cost more to cut him than to keep him, so they would have less talent and less cap room.

Ah, cool. Glad we didn't cut ties with him.

i see us straight cutting him

leave us with less talent and less money.

but hey, at least we'll have an empty roster spot for that other special teams ace or that 6th round OG or whatever, because that's about all we'll be able to afford.

talk about shooting ourselves in the foot.

Would love to see this team pick up Tavon Austin in the draft

DeAngelo is such an afterthought..do defenses even gameplan shotgun handoffs?

What a Signing to scheme disaster.

This is where Hurney dropped the ball..if it was a run heavy zone block scheme than he would be way more productive and money somewhat well spent...but nope and nope.

as Dolph Lungren says..if he is cut..he's cut.

It seems to me someone said we were going to shape our schemes around the talent we had available seems to slip my mind was that hurney? oh no wait that was rivera

they can't afford to be less than 8-8 in any year after this one. they don't have to be playoff bound next year, but they have to get up to .500 or fans are just going to quit bothering in even bigger numbers than they have been.

plus, 2013 is the year that they can start working out a new contract with cam. if we can't manage a winning season in his third year here i doubt that there is going to be much incentive for him to stay.

after this season is over, the panthers are in "win now" mode. they can't afford to take another year on the chin. that's all they've managed to do since we got embarrassed in the playoffs last time. they no longer have the luxury of trying to take time to rebuild.

more than likely, at least in my opinion, unless there is a clear benefit to the cap by letting a vet player go or an obvious upgrade available, they won't be moving on from them. they have enough holes to fill as it is without adding more.

JR's pie chart shows he has one of the most profitable professional teams in all sports......and we rarely win.

So suddenly fans are going to force JR not rebuild again to clean up Hurney's mess? Don't see the evidence supporting that.

JR needs to do what he foolishly didn't do when Fox left. Blow it up. We don't need a 3rd coach losing with a Fox built team......
