Anybody familiar with him? Signing a top DB in FA relieves pressure to draft one early. And he is UFA this coming season.

(and wait, what is that? He is over 6'0!!!!)

He's just a name your familiar with therefore you think he's a good player which he isn't. Id rather find someone in the draft.

Why would he leave the Giants to come here?

He's important to the way the Giants play defense. I don't think he's going anywhere.

He seems a bit injury-prone (already had micro-fracture surgery his 2nd year in the league and dealt with knee issues this season, causing him to miss multiple games) and I'm not sure we'll have the $$$ to go after anyone significant in free agency this offseason anyway.

haven't the giants statistically had one of the worst secondaries in the league, in spite of having one of the best pass rushes? that's not a very good combination.

He was touted as the next Ed Rees coming out of Miami.

He definitely didn't live up to expectations, but he is still a solid player.

Miami safeties ball hard.

He's made of glass. Seriously. I watch every Giants game pretty much due to my in-laws. You can't get through one without him leaving with injury. He's been ravaged by them. Always, always hurt.

He's a very good safety, but too many injuries have plagued him for me.

thanks I was just curious. I honestly dont know anything about him. I just keep seeing Jarius Byrd thrown around and I just keep thinking back to every other FA year I have ever paid attention two. They all go the same in our situation.

New GM, New HC, New Assist. C's
Few UFA's are kept
Few Vets kept, those kept forced to restructure
1 big name FA signed
all D or All O draft (rarely are they balanced)

Using this setup I dont think Jarius Byrd is that 1 big name that we gotta have. I believe that we are likely to get the number 2 or lower name at that position because of cap issues. I could be mistaken. I hope whoever we get is the next GOAT at his position.

He's a big part of our 3 safety look. We haven't really run it a lot this season since Phillips has been out. Went back to it last night and it seems to help the pass rush tremendously.

Hurt his knee again last night, but according to him it's not serious. He could have went back into the game, but given the score at the time of the injury, really wasn't a need to chance it.
